A moderate start to proceedings and POSH EMILY gets the tentative vote. She is likely to be brimming with confidence following her opening success over 2m1f at Taunton and may prove up to defying a 9lb hike in the weights. Nearly A Breeze faces a much easier task than his her recent third at Leicester and could pose the main danger, while Merry Music is entitled to strip fitter for his comeback run at Warwick and is another with place credentials.

The Alan King-trained FRANCHOEK was far from disgraced when fifth in the Grade 2 Ascot Hurdle last time and, with that first run since April under his belt, he's hard to oppose in this lesser company. Hector's Choice won in comfortable fashion at Newbury last time and rates the biggest threat off the same mark here, while Doubly Guest is another that cannot be ruled out with any confidence from the in-form Nicky Henderson yard.

Exmoor Ranger seems sure to play a leading role providing he's feeling no ill-effects from his recent crashing fall at Huntingdon, but hat-trick seeking PANJO BERE is the confident selection. He barely had to break into a sweat when scoring by 17-lengths over 2m4f at Plumpton recently and can keep up the winning habit here. Oscar Bay is being dropped back to a more suitable trip and looks best of the remaining trio.

In what looks a fairly open affair, it could pay to side with PRESENT M'LORD. He's proven to be a model of consistency in these staying events and, entitled to strip fitter for his narrow defeat at Exeter, will be fancied to regain the winning thread. Deep Quest won readily last time and warrants the utmost respect off a 6lb higher mark here, while Toulous-Lautrec is another that cannot be left out of calculations.

Donald McCain's GLENWOOD KNIGHT made a pleasing start to his racing career when runner-up in a 'bumper' at Hexham and, with improvement on the cards, he can make a winning debut over hurdles. Darstardly Dick seems sure to mount a bold bid despite his 7lb penalty for a recent Wincanton success, while Summery Justice could be another worth closely monitoring in the betting market on his hurdling bow for a top yard.

LITTLE SHILLING, four times a winner over timber in the last two weeks, continued his remarkable progression with a fluent success over the larger obstacles at Plumpton on Wednesday. He certainly appeared to have more than his 7lbs penalty in hand and will take plenty of stopping if none the worse for his recent exertions. Willy The Slip was raised 9lbs for a comfortable success over the trip at Lingfield and has to enter calculations. Rosie All Over, a recent winner at Kelso, looks pick of the remainder.

7

15:50 Exeter (Class 5) (3YO only)

E.B.F. 'Junior' Standard Open NH Flat Race

Experience can count for a lot in this type of event and COEUR DE FOU, a close second behind Chickini on debut at Kelso, can find the neccessary improvement to go one better. The booking of Tony McCoy for Tigerbythetale suggests the son of Tiger Hill has improved for his debut fourth on the all-weather at Lingfield, while Tzora, a half-brother to the fair stayer Whispering Death, makes plenty of appeal on breeding and any market support would be interesting.
