It could pay to side with the in form SYLVAN LEGEND. He justified strong market support when winning on his handicap debut at Taunton recently and a 7lb penalty may not be enough to anchor him with further improvement likely. Also holding claims is the Jonathan Portman-trained Cuckoo Rock, who has a couple of placed efforts over timber under his belt, and he struck on the Flat at Goodwood less than two months ago, while Boss In Boots may improve for his comeback fifth at Huntingdon and cannot be ruled out either.

PORTWAY FLYER followed up last Friday's Doncaster success with another stylish win at Ludlow on Wednesday and he should be able to complete the hat-trick providing those exertions haven't taken their toll. Runaway Musselburgh scorer Pass Muster could be closest on hand to take advantage if the favourite is in any way fatigued, while Downtown Manhattan could potentially be a lot better than this opening mark of 103 as he posted solid fourth placed finishes behind useful types Close House and Tetlami just a few runs ago.

This effectively looks a match between the four-year-old's CAID DU BERLAIS and Pistol, with Paul Nicholls' charge fancied to come out on top. The Westerner gelding has the stronger form in the book, most notably when chasing home subsequent Hatton's Grace Hurdle winner Jezki in a Grade 2 hurdle at Down Royal last month, and he should have no problems adapting to the chasing game. The bottom horse is on something of a fact finding mission, stepping up in distance for his chasing debut and having blinkers fitted, but he should beat Farmer Matt into second spot.

Qianshan Leader wouldn't be the most consistent but is more than capable when putting it all together, while Whistling Senator never seems to be far away. Ballypatrick and Ludlow scorer Jayandbee also hold claims, but ALDERLUCK gets the tentative vote. David Pipe's veteran performer stays all day, as shown when landing a 3m6f heavy-ground contest at Bangor in February, and talented conditional Mikey Ennis gets on well with him. Indeed, he was onboard for that Bangor success.

FOGGY'S WALL is unlikely to be on offer at generous odds for his seasonal bow, but Paul Nicholls' charge is tough to look past. The Golan gelding improved markedly in two bumper starts at Wincanton last season and he's expected to have been well schooled at home in preparation for his first start over hurdles. Also a two-time bumper winner, Prideofthecastle drops back in distance following his Towcester flop last month and is noted along with Steel City.

Domtaline is potentially well handicapped off 137 if he can reproduce his Sandown form behind William's Wishes, but preference is for BERTIE BORU. Under a low weight representing the red hot Philip Hobbs stable, the six-year-old has finished second over 3m at Uttoxeter and Taunton the last twice and it would come as no surprise if Tom O'Brien adopted front running tactics coming back in trip. Also of note are Bally Legend and the sole C&D winner Jump City.

A hot looking bumper in which all the right stables are represented. Paul Nicholls' French recruit Alto Des Mottes, a winner on the level at Le Lion-d'angers, is expected to be fully wound up for his UK debut and the market should tell us more about his chance. ADEUPAS D'YCY is preferred with the benefit of having had a previous run, however, and a fair debut at Chateaubriant in September expected to have brought him forward. Entitled to improve having his first start for Nicky Henderson, he makes most appeal. Sea Tiger and Flamenco Lad can also make the frame.
