Midnight Request returned to form in style when scoring by four lengths over 3m1f at Carlisle last time and should appreciate this stiff test as he bids to defy a 9lb rise. However, he may be vulnerable to the unexposed Ben Pauling representative SMOKING DIXIE, who is making his handicap debut. Ben Arthur steps up from 2m4f after battling on well to secure a short-head victory at Ffos Las and is another for whom this longer trip may be a source of immediate improvement.
BEN ARTHUR left previous hurdles efforts in his wake when scoring on handicap debut last month, clearly benefiting from the increase in trip. He ought to have more to offer as his stamina is drawn out and gets the nod. Carlisle scorer Midnight Request is feared most, whilst Waterloo Warrior requires a market check.

Uttoxeter bumper winner CARNSPINDLE is steadily getting the hang of things over hurdles and may be able to make her presence felt if building on her Lingfield second on bottomless ground last time. TRIPLE CHIEF has dropped to a workable rating at present and is running off the same mark he won off over hurdles last year. Gustav performed with credit when second over 2m4f at Leicester last month and is the one that could give the selection most to think about. Only Gorgeous is 5lb higher than when striking over track and trip in January but handles conditions fine and is another capable of making his presence felt.
GUSTAV was beaten only by an unexposed sort off this mark at Leicester last week and can go place better. Only Gorgeous is feared most.

BACCALAUREATE had plenty in hand when scoring over track and trip last month and may be able to overcome a 6lb rise to land a double. Lovely Bubbly could improve on his 2m3f Fontwell sixth last time now cutting back in trip, but she comes with plenty of risk attached in a moderate contest. Course winner Brave Deed is no forlorn hope for a place.
Last month's C&D scorer BACCALAUREATE has to be the percentage call given he's about the only one in this line-up wth a good recent effort to their name. MARTABOT was still in contention before losing his footing and slipping up two out at Lingfield last time. David Pipe's charge moves into a handicap here and appears nicely treated off a mark of 112. Mister Big has claims on the pick of his best hurdles efforts, while Looks Like Power is only 2lb higher than when scoring over 2m at Ffos Las in December and is also weighted to finish on the premises.
MARTABOT looked set to take a hand in the finish until slipping up at Lingfield last time and could turn out to be fairly treated off this opening handicap mark on just his third start for the Pipe team.
