SECRET ESCAPE was highly tried last season in bumpers, contesting a Listed event at Cheltenham in November before finishing a good sixth in the Aintree Grade 2 last month. Donald McCain wastes no time in introducing his mare to hurdling and the dual bumper scorer should have too much class for these rivals. Tillythetank and Dubai Dirham are also noted with the former feared most.

CHAMP brings by far and away the best form to the table in this novice hurdle race as he ran a neck second behind the more experienced Vinndication at Ascot on his hurdles debut in January and has a win in a Southwell bumper to his name to boot. At Ascot, the front two pulled well clear of the 125-rated Just A Sting and although he lined up in receipt of 6lb from Kim Bailey's charge that day, the winner had previously scored impressively at Leicester and went on to win well in Listed company at Huntingdon. The selection can get the better of Rockpoint and Commodore Barry.

Katy P won three of her six starts last year and warrants plenty of respect now returning, but 13lb and race-fitness could give JULLY LES BUXY the advantage. The eight-year-old won readily on her first start for Keiran Burke over this C&D three weeks ago and an 8lb rise might not be enough to anchor her if arriving in the same mood. Handicap debutant Coningsby and dropped-in-class pair Friday Night Light and Just A Sting are others to keep an eye on.

CONNA CROSS beat some useful rivals, including subsequent easy winner Bestwork, at Kempton last month and, entitled to improve for that first start since the beginning of January, he gets the vote to defy a 7lb rise. Hat-trick seeker Admiral's Secret looks an obvious danger while Innocent Girl did very little wrong throughout 2017 and must enter calculations on her return to the fold.

THE TWO AMIGOS has been in great form between the flags in recent months and the six-year-old has to be given the utmost respect this evening. Mistress Massini is another who has been running extremely well in the point-to-point field of late and she could pose the biggest threat to the selection. Others to note are Creative Inerta and The Lizard King.

RHYTHM IS A DANCER has shown promise in both of his starts to date and Paul Nicholls' gelding may take plenty of beating this evening. Kauto The King, Net De Treve and Earth Moor are others that have the ability to go well in a race of this nature. There are some well-bred newcomers in this field and they are headed by Earth Spirit, Fly To Mars and Global Rhapsody.
