Having improved on his fourth-placed reappearance over C&D when third, again over track and trip, 10 days later, DIAMATISTE looks more than capable of scoring at this level. The seven-year-old is still relatively lightly raced and Rian Corcoran's 3lb claim could prove fruitful. Tzarmix arrives on the back of a close-up second at Hereford and rates as the biggest danger, ahead of handicap debutant Gillespie.
Diamatiste carries top weight but boasts solid claims, having put together a string of consistent course efforts. He ought to be bang there once more but GILLESPIE has the potential to improve past him. A bumper winner, he has yet to shine in two starts over hurdles but it could be a different story now this brother to The Big Breakaway is upped in trip and switched to handicaps, with his leading British trainer surely capable of getting another win out of him from a mark of just 108 here. Call Me Legend has run two solid races since handicapping and, like the selection, looks a probable improver upped in trip.

Best Trump won going away on his sole outing between the flags and market support on his Rules bow would be interesting. Although the JP McManus-owned gelding cannot be dismissed, JOHNNY'S JURY might be the one to beat. The six-year-old posted a good third on his opening bid at Ffos Las almost a year ago and he could be worth chancing on his stable/seasonal debut. Limerick Star is also worth a second look.
Best Trump is a fascinating newcomer for the O'Neills, having created a good impression when making a winning debut in a point-to-point, but conceding 13lb to the juvenile POURQUOI PAS PAPA won't be an easy task. The Paul Nicholls-trained 4yo shaped well on his debut at Sandown and, with improvement likely, can take advantage of the weight-for-age allowance. Johnny's Jury may be next best, the ex-Henderson runner having shaped well on last season's debut at Ffos Las. He's joined another good yard, one that made a really good start to the season.

SILVER THORN improved for the step up to this sort of distance when landing the spoils at Doncaster. A 6lb higher mark looks workable and there may be more to come. Having dug deep to make a winning chase bow at Taunton, Wicked Thoughts should give another bold bid, while his former stablemate Toss Of A Coin isn't easily dismissed after scoring on his first appearance for Alan Jones at Chepstow.
A 6lb rise for his authoritative Doncaster win looks perfectly fair for SILVER THORN, who is almost certainly open to further improvement as a chaser. Let down by his jumping at Lingfield on his first run over fences, the step up to 3m really suited last time and he can prove too strong for Toss Of A Coin, who was improved himself when winning at Chepstow last time - his first run since a wind op. Laganhill was another to take a step forward from his chasing debut when runner-up at Bangor last time and the better ground this time may suit.

GOOD FRIDAY FAIRY added another victory to his record over C&D last time and the progressive nine-year-old can follow up, despite a 4lb rise. Recent Ludlow winner Followcato remains unexposed and is an obvious threat to the selection. Big City Roller must be considered on his return to action and any market support for him would have to be noted.
Good Friday Fairy returned with a fine effort over this C&D, with good jumping a feature of her win, and she should again go well off 4lb higher under Harry Cobden but BIG CITY ROLLER retains significant potential having bolted up in on previous outing over fences. He's clearly not the easiest to train as he returns from another absence but has shown he can go well fresh, including for today's rider, and a mark of 123 may undrestimate him. Followcato showed improved form tried in cheekpieces at Ludlow and can have a say as well off just 2lb higher.

ROBBER'S BRIDGE was not beaten far at all into third at Fontwell when last seen in August and it would be no surprise to see Dan Horsford's eight-year-old make a winning return to action. Tom Taggle's latest effort at Taunton in November suggests that he could be the main threat, although Olivia Kate and Locked Down Lad should not be discounted.
Olivia Kate has found her form again but she wouldn't want to be jumping left as markedly as last time, so it's the bottom on TOM TAGGLE who gets the vote. The Evan Williams-trained 6yo shaped encouragingly last time, doing his best work late, and still appeals as being on a fair mark with ground conditions in his favour. Robber's Bridge is a tough and consistent sort and another good run seems likely off what remains a fair mark, with Locked Down Lad also considered. He hasn't run a bad race since the summer.

Kingcormac has to be respected following his Hereford success last month, but the 10-year-old is 6lb higher now and this is much tougher. With that in mind, preference is for HAAS BOY, whose latest efforts over hurdles suggest that he may be on a good mark now returned to fences. Royal Mer edges out Passing Kate to be next best.
Last year's winner Passing Kate has been a model of consistency this season, finishing runner-up on each of her three starts, and gets to race off an unchanged mark, so seems likely to put up another good display, but it could be worth siding with ALTO ALTO, who ran no sort of race on reappearance when clearly needing the run. He now gets reapplied cheekpieces and is only 1lb above his last win mark. The veteran Kingcormac is next on the list, having returned to winning ways at Hereford last time. A 6lb rise asks more but he should give his running.

I'm Wide Awake sets the form standard but he could be vulnerable to some interesting newcomers in this field. LE COLD GREY cost 95,000 euros and is a half-brother to the high-class Gaillard Du Mesnil. With that in mind, the five-year-old gets the nod, while Blackswan D'oroux was purchased for 155,000 euros and is another related to some smart performers.
Eastern Fire is from a top yard and has bumper experience, so will surely go well with improvement likely, but this can go to Ben Pauling's newcomer BLACKSWAN D'OROUX, who is well related and from a yard that does well in these events. Royal runner Bold Step is clearly one to consider on debut for top connections, while at bigger odds don't rule out a good run from Quickkick, who is surely capable of better than he showed in his sole point run.
