Although PUTTING GREEN failed to fire in the Cesarewitch last month, the nine-year-old has been a consistent customer over timber. With that in mind, a mark of 110 may still underestimate his ability and he gets the nod to land a fourth victory over hurdles. Pour Une Raison dismissed his rivals with consummate ease last time out at Warwick and he warrants interest after a break, while Hurricane Mitch is another to consider.

Eyes will understandably be drawn to Luttrell Lad, who ran a gallant race when finishing second in the Persian War at Chepstow last month. He sets a very creditable standard, but he comes up against a potential top-class opponent in I AM MAXIMUS, who is taken to hit the ground running on his hurdling bow. The Nicky Henderson-trained five-year-old has only been seen once on a racecourse and, considering he is the only rival to topple the impressive My Drogo when winning at Cheltenham, he can land the spoils. Judicial Law showed plenty of promise when shedding his maiden tag at the second time of asking and he warrants respect on stable debut.

CASTLE ROBIN enjoyed a successful campaign over hurdles, placing in Grade 2 company, and the Charlie Longsdon-trained six-year-old gets the nod to get off the mark at the first time of asking over fences. Lord Accord relished the switch to the larger obstacles when rallying in determined style to win at Uttoxeter and he rates the most immediate danger. Bobhopeornohope failed to build on his initial promise but he is worth close consideration after a wind operation.

Fanfan Du Seuil shaped with promise when posting an encouraging second at Huntington last month and he commands respect in this contest. However, a chance is taken on MACK THE MAN, who won off this mark at Wincanton last season and he has previously shown that he can go well fresh. Tulin is also noted if he can build on his recent display in Listed company at Kempton.

A case can be made for several of these, but preference is for COCONUT SPLASH. The six-year-old bumped into some smart performers last season but he gets the vote to notch his first success over fences. Jay Bee Why showed a strong level of ability over hurdles last season and he is not to be underestimated on his chase debut, while Any News, Gallyhill and Striking A Pose also have claims.

MACFIN performed with credit when finishing second behind a progressive rival at Fakenham last month, pulling well clear of the rest, and the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained gelding can register his first career win. Heavey possibly hit the front too soon when runner-up at Fontwell on his latest start and is feared, while Writteninthesand also has the ability to get involved.

The Nicky Henderson-trained MIND SUNDAY raced too freely when finishing down the field in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree when last seen in April and the daughter of Never On Sunday looks capable of much better on her hurdling debut. Sabrina landed an Ascot bumper in impressive fashion on her penultimate start and is an interesting prospect despite returning from a lengthy absence, while Shirocco's Dream performed respectably when finishing third at Huntingdon on her latest outing in March and also makes the shortlist.
