STAR DOUBLE has shown enough in his two bumpers to suggest that he should be up to winning a race of this quality, and is a tentative choice in what is a pretty moderate opener. Bilton's Nap has won his last two point-to-point races and could make the frame on his first start under rules, while Whispering John, who has shown signs of ability, reverts to hurdling today after an unsuccessful spell over fences.

LORD ANNER won three out of four point-to-points before scoring on his first start under rules over C&D in April. Paul Nicholls' charge did not jump well when pulled up at Stratford last time, but has Ruby Walsh in the saddle today and is a confident choice to get back to winning ways on his handicap debut. It's Definite won on his chasing debut but has struggled since, while Surefast was in good form last season, but has shot up the weights and may need some respite from the handicapper.

BLUE BUSINESS has won his last four starts over hurdles, the last of which being a decisive victory at Cheltenham in April (Bowleaze a pulled-up beaten favourite). Bowleaze, though, has bounced back to form since and both these horses look to have a bright future over fences. There may not be much between the pair today but Paul Nicholls' charge, who is a half-brother to See More Business, just gets the nod.

Ex-Irish recruit BOYCHUK won for his new connections in impressive fashion over C&D recently, and this 36,000 guineas purchase looks likely to go on to much better things. Saltango, who had a run on the flat last month, has been placed on all of his three hurdles starts to date, has Tony McCoy on board again today, and looks set for the runner-up spot again.

Two interesting newcomers to the chasing game here in CHILLING PLACE and Cornish Sett. Both exceeded expectations over hurdles last season and should be even better over the bigger obstacles. The latter looks to have lots of improvement left in him despite winning four of his seven starts, while the former, who was placed in the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle, has winning point-to-point form and therefore just gets the nod.

This could be another for the in-form combination of Paul Nicholls and Ruby Walsh with NIPPY DES MOTTES. The four-year-old ran his best race to date when just touched off at Fontwell in May and this improving sort can make a winning start in handicap company here. The Martin Pipe-trained Don't Ask Me has improved since being fitted with a tongue tie, and he may also appreciate this slight step-up in trip.

Keith Reveley has a 33 per cent strike-rate in bumpers this season and his CELTIC REALM can improve that statistic today. Tony McCoy has been booked to ride and this brother to 1m4f winner Celtic Song can make a winning debut. Nigel Twiston-Davies also has a good record in these events and 30,000 guineas purchase Jabo looks like one to keep an eye on, but the market will be the best guide.
