THOMAS BLOSSOM ran a solid race on his handicap debut at Uttoxeter when third behind Ganymede and is fairly handicapped with Joshua Newman's 5lb claim. The son of Dylan Thomas has since run well on the Flat at Bath and looks a solid proposition to get off the mark over timber. Ice Konig improved for the drop back in distance on his last couple of outings and is a threat with a first-time tongue-tie, while Vintage Salon is an interesting contender coming over from Ireland and with a hood applied.

VERYGOODVERYGOOD has improved with each start over timber and was a solid runner-up last time behind Beau Phil at Newton Abbot. The extra couple of furlongs will prove beneficial on his handicap debut and the yard of Nigel Twiston-Davies is currently in excellent form. Our Folly won at Uttoxeter in the style of a horse that had more to give and a 6lb rise seems more than fair for Stuart Kittow's charge, while The Wealerdealer is of interest returning to hurdles after unseating over fences here earlier in the month.

CAULFIELDS VENTURE won this contest 12 months ago off a 1lb lower and had benefited on that occasion from a first-time visor. This year connections have decided to place a set of blinkers on which could bring about further improvement from a horse that seems to go well after a break. Wizards Bridge was travelling well in the void race at Fontwell last month and has to enter calculations racing off the same mark here, while Fact Of The Matter bumped into a well-handicapped rival in Definite Future at Huntingdon and should improve for the extra half-mile he encounters here.

Philip Hobbs has landed this with a host of promising types in the past (four times in the last nine years) and it will be a surprise if DRUMLEE SUNSET fails to improve upon that record. The six-year-old was unfortunate to bump into several promising types last season, including the likes of Mister Miyagi, Altior and Champers On Ice. He faces nothing of that calibre here and should be able to take advantage before moving onto better things. Man From Mars showed promise on his Exeter debut in February behind the highly promising Westend Story and could be able to claim the silver medal ahead of Orchard Park.

OLD GUARD was unfortunate on his chase debut at Newton Abbot earlier this month, getting the first fence wrong and all but coming down. He was pulled up immediately by Sam Twiston-Davies and after reportedly schooling well at home over the summer, he could now make amends. Imperial Presence looked like a horse to follow when sauntering clear on debut at Kempton and then following that up with an excellent second behind a promising sort. He was in danger of becoming disappointing in his last two starts last season but should relish this sphere. Shintori has plenty to find but could prove best of the remainder.

Philip Hobbs landed this prize in 2012 with Garde La Victoire and the Somerset-based trainer looks to hold strong claims here with SAMBURU SHUJAA. A half-brother to a couple of French winners and a son of high-class Flat runner Poliglote, the three-year-old can make a winning start to life under Rules in an event that lacks depth. Castlerigg cost five figures as a yearling and merits respect under Aidan Coleman, while Irish raider Scheu Time deserves a market check and the booking of Harry Skelton is intriguing.
