LUCKY DANCER, a maiden hurdle winner at Worcester first time over fences, was unlucky not to claim his second success when seen over C&D last time on his third start. He looked to have every chance two out when slipping up on landing. He Is open to further improvement and can make amends today. Thedeboftheyear, an easy C&D winner in a similar contest in April, was well beaten at Uttoxeter next time but still looks the danger to the selection, especially if recapturing her best form. Ballyvesey, second over fences last time, seems to have lost his way over timber lately but has claims on his best form.

Although he may prefer more cut in the ground, there seems every chance that French import REBEL DU MAQUIS can make his UK debut a winning one. He's finished second in his three starts to date, once over hurdles and twice over fences, and was close-up last time in a valuable 2m 2f chase at Auteuil. This seems an easier task and he's sure to be well prepared for this. Superius, a winner on the Flat in Ireland, looks a nice sort and could go well on his hurdling bow while Tayarat might have been a shade unlucky when losing a 2m hurdle at Plumpton in the stewards' room and seems sure to be thereabouts today.

It would be a major surprise if TATANIANO didn't make his chasing debut a winning one. The Irish point-to-point winner has won three of his five starts over hurdles, scorching home by 21 lengths at Cheltenham last April. The switch to the bigger obstacles has been keenly awaited and, with him going well when fresh, he should take all the beating on his seasonal reappearance. Award Winner, also making his debut over fences, could be the one for the forecast while Manmoon and Hereweareagain have experience over the larger obstacles and that might stand them in good stead.

In quite a trappy little contest it might pay to side with the lightly-raced French import REFERENT. Twice a winner in bumpers from three starts, he's improved in two runs over hurdles, finishing a close third over 2m 1f at Les Sables-d'Olonne back in June. He looks reasonably treated by the handicapper on his UK debut and might have the edge here. Winterwood, a maiden hurdle winner at Limerick, could be the danger although his 17-month absence is a worry while French hurdles winner Sagalyrique has also been off the track since last summer but can be given every chance on form.

BALLYDUB'S close second in a Grade 3 race at Sandown at the start of the year was the pinnacle of an excellent hurdling career. After a summer break he resumes his NH career with his debut over the bigger obstacles and there is every likelihood he can start with a victory. Only Plane Painter of his three rivals has chasing experience and he could be the one for the forecast although Hunters Ploy and Kilvergan Boy have some good form over timber and cannot be ruled out.

I'm A Legend was just pipped over 2m 5f at Wincanton last time out but is proving difficult to win with over fences and carries another 5lb here. Free World, who unshipped his pilot at the fifth on his chasing bow in that Wincanton race, might get a lot closer today but it might be worth giving another chance to MARSH COURT, who landed a double over fences at the start of the year, including a good victory over 2m 5f at Warwick off this handicap mark. He was reluctant to race next time at Newton Abbot and was eventually pulled up but if he consents to take part today, could take all the beating.

With no form to go on in this bumper, punters need to look at stable records. Nicky Henderson does exceptionally well in these contests and his representative, Tetlami, a son of Daylami, looks sure to go well. However, Hughie Morrison, an infrequent participator in such races, has an even better strike-rate in his occasional forays into bumpers and it's worth taking a chance on his Sakhee colt, SKEEMAH, who seems ideally bred for this trip. Karasenir is another well-bred sort who could go well but his pedigree suggests he'll be better suited by a longer trip.
