KNIGHT COMMANDER won well at Hereford last week and must be respected under a 7lb penalty. He makes more appeal than fellow last-start scorer Airton because the latter looked to need every yard of the extended 2m7f at Uttoxeter and might just get a little outpaced over this shorter trip. Espressino might be one for the each-way players, with Sweeping Rock also considered.

TO FLY FREE might just appreciate this step up in distance on the evidence of her latest Sedgefield third, and she should have more to offer in this sphere going handicapping for just the second time. Kiruna Peak is an obvious threat as she arrives in great nick having won two of her last three over fences for Fergal O'Brien. Ishyaboi should also be thereabouts at the business end.

SHANTOU EXPRESS should be winning a maiden of this nature sooner rather than later, and will take some stopping in this heat if running up to his mark of 129. His latest Uttoxeter effort was full of promise and the five-year-old won't mind coming back in trip on the evidence of his Stratford performance the time before. Wargrave is interesting debuting in this sphere as connections have booked Richard Johnson, while Kanukankan and Sovereign Duke are worthy of shortlist inclusion.

Paul Nicholls has his string in fine form and OSCARS MOONSHINE can confirm the promise of his latest Hereford success. The five-year-old appreciated the step up in distance on that occasion and might still be well ahead of the handicapper now stretching out further in trip. Talktomenow has clearly improved for undergoing wind surgery as he dotted up at Perth, while Escort'namix should also make the frame.

SIZING AT MIDNIGHT made all to secure back-to-back victories in comfortable fashion at Ffos Las earlier this month and a 9lb rise might not be enough to stop him continuing on his upward curve. Commodore Barry will make sure the selection doesn't get things completely his own way from the front, but disappointed at Bangor on his reappearance and is vulnerable from a win perspective. Warwick winner Kitty's Light has been in top form this summer and will appreciate conditions, while Flying Verse was travelling nicely when unseating three from home at Wincanton and can't be discounted.

ZOFFEE gave Getaway Trump a real run for his money when second at Warwick on his chasing debut earlier this month and that recent match practice could give Philip Hobbs' four-year-old the edge here against a pair of rivals returning from a spell off the track. Seven De Baune wasn't disgraced on his only previous appearance over fences but has a 400-day absence to defy here, while Dorking Boy looks to have a bit to find judged on hurdles form.

FRESH NEW DAWN's jumping isn't for the faint hearted, but it was encouraging that he completed for the first time over fences when second at Kelso last time and a clear round could be enough for him to take this. Twasn't The Plan ran on well to take second when reappearing at Southwell in August and is only 2lb higher here, while Who Shot Jr is tried in a tongue-tie and cheekpieces now following a performance which was too bad to be true at Ffos Las earlier this month.

PEAKED TOO SOON made a respectable debut when finishing third at Huntingdon last month and Jamie Osborne's gelding, who did some fine late work on that occasion, could be the answer to this. He can confirm the form over Left Unattended, who faded into sixth in that contest but wasn't helped by meeting interference two furlongs from home. Silent Partner and The Worthy Brat are both related to winners on the Flat and could be the pick of the newcomers, while Harry Cobden is a notable jockey booking aboard Sweet Nightingale.
