A pretty ordinary handicap kicks off the card and the lightly-raced AIRPUR DESBOIS is given only a tentative vote after some encouraging efforts in defeat. Last year's winner Absolutely Bygones is 6lb higher this time round, but is a pretty consistent performer and shouldn't be underestimated on his seasonal bow. Theatre Goer makes her handicap debut and completes the shortlist.

KEY TO THE WEST didn't get very far at Cheltenham, but prior to that he finished an excellent second in a stronger 0-140 handicap at Stratford, and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he carried top weight to victory here. De Faoithesdream faced a tough task at Cheltenham but should fare better at this level, and it is impossible to overlook Bobbits Way, who was in cracking form when last seen.

There isn't a great deal separating Fletchers Flyer and Kayf Moss on their official hurdle ratings and both make plenty of appeal here. A chance is taken on ONENIGHTINVIENNA, though, as Philip Hobbs landed this prize with Return Spring last term and he has already identified this son of Oscar as a potential Cheltenham Festival horse. Kingscourt Native was running a good race before falling at Carlisle and can get on the premises if none the worse for that tumble.

The penalised Anda De Grissay was somewhat flattered by the margin of her victory at Fontwell last week but she has to feature near the top of the shortlist regardless. A chance is taken on the handicap debutant MINELLACELEBRATION at the forecast prices, though, as he was one of only five that completed in a competitive race at this venue on Haldon Gold Cup day and he looks potentially well treated by an introductory mark of 98. Dolly Diamond is entitled to strip fitter for a recent sighter and completes the shortlist.

IKRAPOL improved between runs in France last season and is worth monitoring closely in the betting on his first start for a new trainer and now fitted with first-time headgear. Philip Hobbs inmate Jaboltiski carries a penalty for scoring over the extended 1m7f at Huntingdon three weeks ago and is considered the main danger ahead of Swincombe Toby, who took a forward step when third in a maiden hurdle at Warwick latest.

Georgie Lad stayed on to lead near the finish when getting up by a head over hurdles at Bangor last month and is respected as he bids to follow up over fences over this slightly longer distance. Marginal preference, however, is for ST DOMINICK, who was cuffed in the dying strides at Exeter last time and is expected to gain deserved compensation, despite a subsequent 7lb rise. The returning Tarraco, who was narrowly denied off this mark at Fontwell in March, completes the shortlist.

Legion D'Honneur has been raised 9lb for scoring over 2m3f here recently and is weighted to remain competitive if coping with this slight drop in trip, though of more interest is ITS A LONG ROAD, a C&D winner who remains open to further improvement on his seventh start over timber. Hollywood All Star should give it his best shot from the front and is worth a market check on his seasonal bow.
