MOTHER MELDRUM won a similar race over the extended 2m trip here eight days ago and arrives buoyed by that first career win. Victor Dartnall's charge wasn't stopping at the line on that occasion, suggesting this step up in distance will pose few problems, and after just the 10 starts over timber, the daughter of Milan won't be done improving yet. Upton Wood ran back to form over C&D recently and is a player now dropped in class, while Apache Outlaw completes the shortlist.

SPACE ODDITY is Harry Fry's sole runner on the card and the eye is immediately drawn to this unexposed son of Al Namix. Winner of a novice hurdle at Taunton earlier this month, the fourth horse has since franked that form at Uttoxeter and an initial mark of 114 looks lenient. The five-year-old has been sent off favourite for both starts on these shores, so he's clearly held in high regard and could have something in hand off his mark going handicapping for the first time. Canadian Diamond and Steel City are expected to put up most resistance.

CLOUDY BEACH is two wins from his last three starts and his figures over the larger obstacles read 2-4. Venetia Williams' charge has won twice over fences on heavy ground, which is a slight concern, but he did win over hurdles on good ground and is well worth sticking with while he's clearly on a steep upward trajectory. Sonny The One is a model of consistency and has finished outside of the first three home just three times in 11 starts over jumps, so he's noted along with Lord Ballim.

MOUNTAIN OF MOURNE ran a close second off 2lb lower at Chepstow last week and is officially 4lb well-in at the weights bidding to go one place better. Still an unexposed quantity, the booking of Richard Johnson screams confidence and connections have found their gelding a real opening. Umberto D'olivate is the sole course winner in the field and wasn't without his supporters last time, so joins Call The Detective on the shortlist.

SHOOFLY MILLY wasn't winning out of turn at Taunton last month, following a creditable second-placed effort at Kempton, and the daughter of Milan can go from strength to strength. Jockey Matt Griffiths has lost his 3lb claim in the plate, so she's effectively 11lb higher when taking that into account, but she readily accounted for Oscar Jane latest and Johnny Farrelly's inmate has since franked the form. Storm Alert, the sole C&D winner, and Admiral Blake rate best of the rest.

ALLCHILLEDOUT got off the mark on just his third start in handicaps at Taunton last month and wasn't without his supporters either, so was clearly expected to run well. A 6lb rise at this stage of his career isn't offputting, as he's open to stacks of improvement, and the step up in distance can ensure he stays one step ahead of the assessor. Trespassers Will has been knocking on the door in starts at Plumpton and Huntingdon and cannot be dismissed, while similar sentiments apply to Dusk Till Dawn.

BIG FELLA THANKS has shown no signs of throwing the towel in this season and, at the grand old age of 14, continues to run well in this discipline. Second the last twice to two talented animals at Wetherby and Wincanton, his latest conqueror Pacha Du Polder ran a blinder in the Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival recently and he may not have to improve much on that effort to land the spoils. Delta Borget arrives on a hat-trick following two impressive displays at Taunton and Leicester and heads the list of dangers from Ballytober.
