Most of these have something to prove but not OWL OF ATHENS, who bolted up at Huntingdon. Evan Williams' charge appeared to relish the testing conditions that day and with similar ground in store, he looks to have been found another fine opportunity. Wonder Of The Seas has failed to complete the last twice, but earlier efforts suggest he's the main threat. The Grey Man is next best.
OWL OF ATHENS had plenty in hand when winning last time so if his stamina holds up over this longer trip he should defy an 8lb rise. He's proven on heavy ground and he should once again get a decent pace to aim at likely set by Wonder Of The Seas. He needed the run last time following a wind op but has slipped to a dangerous mark on his form prior to a lay off. He looks the biggest danger ahead of The Grey Man who was poor last time over hurdles but would've placed if not for falling off 1lb higher on his last chase run.

INISHCORKER has been picking up his share of minor money and although a little underwhelming at both Haydock and Uttoxeter when well fancied, the Jukebox Jury gelding did produce his best effort over C&D so a return may help him break the maiden. Uptown Dandy was pulled up at Ascot latest, but he won't find this as demanding. Limerick Star is another with a big chance.
Inishcorker sets the standard having shown a consistent level of form in similar events and his debut form has been boosted in a Grade 2. He is respected but he does need to prove his effectiveness on a testing surface. UPTOWN DANDY proved he handled heavy in bumpers and the form of his penultimate run over hurdles looks very strong. He wasn't made enough use of that day and likely has more to offer over this longer trip. He's easily forgiven his latest run where he was eased after a bad early error and is taken to get back on track here. Limerick Star is also proven on heavy ground and has shaped with promise on both of his runs so far. If the cheekpieces deliver any further improvement he will also be on the premises.

La Higuera recorded a narrow win at Wetherby before following up in emphatic fashion at Southwell but, although respected, preference is for SPARKLING DUKE. The seven-year-old returned to form in no uncertain terms over C&D last time out and looks likely to go close in similar conditions. Colonial Empire drops in class after finishing second at Catterick and won't be far away either.
Point winner SPARKLING DUKE has been in fine form since returning to rules this term. He had plenty in hand when winning here last time so a 7lb rise looks lenient and he's proven on heavy ground. Colonial Empire was a touch unlucky to be caught late last time having travelled strongly but challenged too early off a strong pace. He is on a dangerous mark judged on his old form and looks the biggest threat to the selection. Clondaw Royale boasts a similar profile and should also remain competitive despite a 4lb rise for his last time out win.

DJ PETE's best efforts this season have come at this venue and the eight-year-old arrives following a narrow success over 2m last week. Getaway With You returned to winning ways at Chepstow last week and has to enter calculations after going up 4lb for that success. Moorland Rambler won this contest last season, but needs to improve on recent efforts and the vote goes to IONITY. Evan Williams' gelding placed when returning from a lengthy absence at Wetherby and is entitled to step forward on this occasion.
IONITY ran a huge race on his return from a long lay off last time and if avoiding the bounce here he should be tough to beat. He's only gone up 3lb despite pulling a long way clear of the remainder behind a rival who has followed up since and he's already a C&D winner. Bolsover Bill isn't the horse he was prior to a lay off but he has dropped a long way in the weights and hinted at a revival on his hurdles return last time. He can build on that and could provide the main challenge ahead of the steadily progressive Getaway With You who will find this his toughest test to date.

Having secured a first hurdles victory in some style at Chepstow, Inion Tiogair is sure to prove popular in her follow-up bid. Although a 6lb higher mark seems fair, a return to 2m and rise in class does ask more of the nine-year-old. With that in mind, it could be worth taking a punt on handicap debutant BOUQUET DE PARIS, who hasn't been disgraced on his last two outings. Francky Blue is a feasible alternative.
INION TIOGAIR took an age to get her head in front but having finally done so she is fancied to progress and follow up. The form of her penultimate runner up effort has been boosted significantly and a 6lb rise for her recent win looks lenient given she had plenty in hand that day. Things didn't go to plan over fences for Chief Sunday and he failed to stay 2 1/2m on his hurdles return but he has dropped to a workable mark and looks a big player dropped back in distance. Bouquet De Paris proved steadily progressive in juvenile events and is likely to prove better than this opening mark in time. If he handles the softer ground he can also play a part in the finish.
