Jersey Bull ran as well as could have been expected when taking on a hotpot over C&D last month. Another bold bid looks on the cards but he may prove to be vulnerable to some potentially useful recruits off the Flat. OCEANE has been set some stiff tasks since arriving from France but he did manage a close third in the Bibury Cup at Salisbury in June and that form has been boosted with the subsequent performances of the winner (Simple Verse) and second (Polarisation). Darebin put in some very good runs in maidens before finding a hot Goodwood handicap too deep for him. He represents a yard who won this race two years ago and deserves respect.

SHANTOU TIGER has bumped into a couple of decent sorts on his last two runs and the form of his last performance at Uttoxeter was boosted when the winner won again at Chepstow on Wednesday. Danimix only went down narrowly at Cartmel in August, his first start in six months, and it would be no surprise to see him pull out some more with that run under his belt. Ballyvoneen and Copper Birch should not be ruled out in a tight contest.

ROYAL BATTALION was a winner over C&D back in August and he finds himself just 6lb higher today. He was a beaten favourite back here later that month but that run can be forgiven as the soft ground would have been against him. The progressive Shear Rock will be a big danger following his wins at Bangor and Market Rasen earlier in the year, while Disputed looks the pick of the rest.

CHRIS PEA GREEN has been set some stiff tasks in his time, including when still going well enough when falling four out in the Grand Annual. This is the weakest race he's contested in a long time and he has a fair record when fresh. Oscar Hill is another who has taken in some hot races recently and he is just 5lb higher than when winning by eight lengths at Chepstow two starts ago while Purple 'n Gold has been in good form recently and can be competitive with his penalty offset by his rider's claim.

Western Way is only marginally passed over as he has been impressive when landing a couple of wins recently but the worry has to be the 8lb rise in the ratings he has received for his last win. CHAMPAGNE PRESENT put in two moderate efforts recently, but if he were to bounce back to his form of last season then he would be a big danger. Sir Mangan is interesting on his first start for Dan Skelton.

HENRYVILLE ended last season rated 156 over hurdles and this race looks like it will be a round of schooling with some prize money for the son of Generous. He ran well when carrying some massive weights in handicap hurdles during his last campaign, including when he was fourth off top weight in the Pertemps Final. Mesut is an interesting recruit to England but it is hard to see where the handicapper has got a mark of 110 from as his French form looks very moderate. That said, he will pick up a nice cheque as long as he completes.
