CITY OF GOLD has shown nice ability in two starts and can give Aidan O'Brien a fifth success in a row in this particular maiden. A 400,000-euro yearling and out of a Listed winner, the son of Wootton Bassett met trouble on his debut and while well held in second at the Festival here in July, that race's winner is smart and finished third in the Acomb at York. Stablemate Noble Exhibit has a fine pedigree but appears to be second-string on jockey bookings. He nonetheless ran well in a Curragh maiden last month and should build on that. Leadlight is rated 80 and is vulnerable to potentially capable types, while the well-related Aladdin's Cave should benefit from this introduction.

LORD MASSUSUS has dropped in the ratings and it is hoped first-time blinkers can return him to something near his best ability. A Group 3 winner in 2023, the selection gained Listed wins in each of the last two years and while his form has dipped, he ran well here in July and drops in grade. Three-time C&D winner Clear Quartz was unsuited by competing over staying distances in recent runs but had shown promise at Leopardstown in June. Lady Arwen won well at the Festival here in July and commands plenty of respect. Java Wood is 4lb higher than when scoring at Gowran, while Never Loose will appreciate softening ground.

CLADACH has run well in recent handicaps and should be suited by stepping up in distance. A 220,000-euro yearling and out of a half-sister to a 2000 Guineas runner-up, the selection has progressed gradually and having finished well at Gowran last Tuesday, competes from 3lb lower. Purely's form is fairly ordinary but she is entitled to improve on what she has achieved to date. Jp's Express won at the Festival during the summer, while Felix Somary, Down The Glen and handicap debutante Suir Munad were others to run well here as well.

AUTUMN GRAY ran nicely on her recent debut at Naas and can build on that showing. A half-sister to three winners, the selection was best of the newcomers on that occasion where she finished her race quite well. Two of those, Churchill Bond and 80-rated Lunar Empress, who is now tried in cheekpieces, re-oppose today but the selection is open to a fraction more progression. The Aga Khan pair of Shenata and Katiraya are closely matched on their respective debut runs in a July maiden at Leopardstown.

Mudlark RHYTHM KING is a five-time winner whose rating has recently fallen and would have solid claims if the ground stays soft. Rated 83 at his peak, the selection failed to win last year and while also defeated twice here in July, ran well in that first race on just yielding ground. San Aer is a dual course winner and has solid recent form, finishing narrowly ahead of veteran Loingseoir in July. Merisi Diamond needs soft ground but ran with credit when returning from a break and is entitled to step forward.

BESET is one of seven runners for trainer Joseph O'Brien and easing ground conditions will help her chances. A four-time winner, the selection has twice scored on testing going at Listed level and makes a good bit of appeal. Similarly, soft surfaces suit stablemate Snapretend, who has been placed three times at this level. She likes this trip and is noted along with Classiest.

It is hoped SYLKIE will be ready for this reappearance having last raced in April, and she is a three-time course winner whose rating has recently slipped. Ideally suited by easy ground conditions, the selection won three course handicaps in consecutive months in 2024 and looks well treated again off 61. Three-year-old Belle Nuit has done most of her racing here and is taken to go well, along with Faro Island.

POSSUM showed improvement at Roscommon recently and can build on that showing. Although held by Pleased, Porters Corner and I Hope You Dance on her Curragh debut run in June, it was a step in the right direction when finishing third at Roscommon and she may improve past those rivals now. Galway Hurdle runner-up Thisistheway is clearly capable, but the seven-year-old mare needs to break better back on the Flat.
