World Pool Gold Cup Day and multi-million-rand pools are expected. Race 1 is as competitive as it gets. There are plenty of strong form runners but Hollywoodbets Durban July 5th-placed ISIVIVANE and 8th-placed ZEITZ are deemed well enough to have a go with a drop in distance and make it tougher. TALK TO THE MASTER can't be faulted and from draw No 1 can follow up on his last win. He has finished ahead of ISIVIVANE. BETTER MAN and GREEN GATEWAY were two of the fastest finishers just behind him and both must have big claims at the weights. More with claims, lovely race.

PALACE OF ARVERNIA showed her class when winning the Grade 2 Golden Slipper over 1400m from off the pace. She has more to come but will have to get going sooner over this shorter trip. OCEAN MISTRESS finished ahead of PALACE OF ARVERNIA in the Allan Robertson and was then only 1.45 lengths behind her last time out. It could get close again even if OCEAN MISTRESS has drawn widest. SWEET GREEN could be the big improver. She got the job done last time and can only improve. There shouldn't be much to choose between MENAGERIE and FERRARI FLAIR on form. THYME TO TALK is another to respect.

Rising Highveld sensation GIMME SOME LUCK gets tested among other up-and-coming runners from around the country. He was impressive last time and a wide draw may not trouble him. BISOU BISOU had things go wrong when upped in trip but now jumps from gate No 1 and could take advantage. BENNY AND PAUL won as he liked last time and also has more to come. US RANGER has performed well on turf and poly for a stable that raids well. CATFISH, easy debut winner FISH TALES and Graded-placed WORLD SERIES have work to do from wide draws. More improving sorts in it, so follow the betting markets closely.

R8M TAB Pick 6 pool expected, get on timeously! It is interesting that the two promising Malmoos fillies MARCHLAND and WITHIN REACH have drawn alongside each other in gates Nos 6 and 7 respectively. MARCHLAND, trained by Kelly Mitchley, has done everything asked of her. She is unbeaten in the Eastern Cape and should have every chance of bagging this Grade 2. WITHIN REACH has strong Highveld form for trainer Sean Tarry and was only beaten once in her three starts and that was by star filly Moana. Stablemate ALICE B TOKLAS was a bit unlucky last time. She could relish the extra.

This Grade 1 has plenty talent and could be a thriller. Fillies TUDOR ROSE (draw No 1) and SECRETARY BIRD (No 4) have shown fair potential, but MOANA (No 5) has been impressive and could take home what is usually the prize for the top colt. GREEN ENERGY (9) was eye catching but along with other promising sorts has drawn wide. VIKING LEADER (2) is getting better and should relish the trip. PRAYERSANDPROMISES (7) was drawn very wide last time and can go a lot better over the 1600m. If reserve runner COAST OF THE SUN gets a run, he could be dangerous, depending on what draw he lands.

Champion BUFFALO STORM CODY lost his last two carrying big weights but at weight-for-age terms should be hard to beat. He can defend his 2025 title. 2025 Golden Horse winner TENANGO wasn't far behind the former in last year's running and after getting even closer in the Post Merchants has a chance of beating the champ. But it was enigmatic JET FORCE who beat both in the Grade 2 Merchants and he may mow down a field like this again. QUESTIONING is on a roll after winning the Drill Hall Stakes and Gold Challenge. He will need to overcome his draw, though. ASIYE PHAMBILI has a say too.

2025 Gold Cup champion KING PELLES should have every chance of doing it again for his connections after running a cracker in the Hollywoodbets Durban July. Lyle Hewitson returns for the ride. NATIVE RULER was only 2.35 lengths behind the top stayer when himself running a gallant race in the Durban July and must have a say. ENFLAME deserves another go at the track especially over this distance. He is an up-and-coming stayer. AHEAD OF THE FACTS beat 2024 Gold Cup winner MASTER REDOUTE in a thrilling Gold Vase, so both need to be taken seriously. More can earn.

GLADATORIAN beat the then July winner THE REAL PRINCE, who finished ahead of SEE IT AGAIN in last year's race and the dynamite trio could fight it out again. But who will be King of the Cup? SEE IT AGAIN could turn the form around on his Met win and his last run is best ignored. GLADATORIAN was not disgraced in this year's July and having finished ahead of THE REAL PRINCE in the Gold Challenge could repeat last year's feat. THE REAL PRINCE, like SEE IT AGAIN, will come in fresher having not run in the July. EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN, LEGAL COUNSEL and DAVE THE KING rate dark horses at best.

ANOTHERDANCEFORME, who won the Grade 2 Golden Slipper at this course as a juvenile last year, is back to show what she is made off. She has won over 2000 and 2200m since then and trainer Alan Greeff has given her the ideal prep. But it is competitive. MINOGUE almost beat July runner-up Wish List in her penultimate race and is drawn No 1. MOCHA BLEND was a strong fancy for the July and did finish ahead of MINOGUE but she has drawn wide and has a big weight. Stablemates BEACH VERSE and last year's winner RAINBOW LORIKEET should be dangerous if the pace is on.

The big boy, AFRICAN PRIDE, could be hard to peg back from gate one. He weighs in excess of 600kgs but is as fast as anything and in good form. But CHAPBOOK did finish ahead of him the last time they met, looks well in and has drawn well too. Stablemate KAALVOET has top class form and may just overcome his wide stall. CIRCUMBENDIBUS also took AFRICAN PRIDE to the wire previously and is 0.5kg better off for a half length beating but he has drawn very wide. LION RAMPART who wasn't disgraced from a wide draw last time could be the dark horse when looking at the weights.
