MECHANICS FINEST had five of these opponents in arrears when finishing second over course and distance earlier this month. His record at this track - a win and four placed runs in six starts - also reads favourably and he can get the better of the dropped-in-class Over Limit and last-start maiden winner Boot N Loot.

CASE DISMISSED showed abundant promise when finishing a one-length second on her debut and is entitled to improve for that experience. Sassy Sierra looks a big danger after a good third at a higher level and Guantanamera looks the pick of the five debutants after an encouraging workout earlier this month.

The experienced He's The One has been running well but he might be vulnerable to a potential improver like ASKED AND ANSWERED, who ran well in defeat on debut. The sole filly in the field, Sunfest, is also respected on her first competitive start.

This race appears to revolve around the dropped-in-grade ALSTERONE, who has placed behind progressive rivals in more competitive races, and looks tough to oppose. Of the others, perhaps the application of blinkers can elicit improvement from Majestic Voice and Ola Yola on just their second respective start.

A trappy race where DEBBIE'S TUDE is only a tentative selection after some decent efforts in more competitive company. The consistent Regan's Odyssey and Sunrise Kitty appear to be the biggest dangers.

SUMMER SCAMP was third behind a subsequent winner earlier this month and should relish the return to a longer trip on turf judging by his winning performance two starts back. There are plenty of credible dangers, though, with recent runner-up Extreme Justice expected to run well and Market Strength a possible improver for a new stable.

WILTSHIRE STAR looked much better when finishing runner-up on his first start since a gelding operation in November and could be tough to beat if improving again. The Todd Pletcher-trained Giant's Voice looks a big danger, though, after a decent third earlier this month and it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see Arpinella run well with blinkers refitted.

The returning Elysea's World could be far too good for these opponents if her form in stakes races earlier this year is anything to go by, but at the forecast prices perhaps VERBOUWEN is worth a chance. The Chad Brown-trained three-year-old was an excellent third at Aqueduct in November and might have a slight fitness edge over the first named horse. Recent runner-up Stay The Night is also respected.

STARSHIP APOLLO was a comfortable winner in a more valuable claimer in November and looks to have a solid chance. He might prove vulnerable to the likes of Twizzle, though, as he was running in much more competitive races prior to a layoff, while recent winner Aggressive Driver also deserves the utmost respect.

Parkerelizabeth is a leading contender after two placed efforts but perhaps BETTABE FAST is the one to plump for after she finished a good second on her first start. The dropped-in-grade Later is also a player.
