HAPPY POWER cost 625,000 guineas as a yearling and following a pleasing if not exceptional debut at Newbury, the Dark Angel colt is sure to improve for the experience as Andrew Balding's youngsters often do. Smile A Mile was much improved at Haydock last time and could easily build on that third-placed finish, while Triple Distilled is respected back down to six furlongs.

Yes You is sure to be popular in search of a hat-trick here and must be high up on the shortlist under a 6lb penalty, while Grise Lightning thrived over course and distance on her first outing following wind surgery last time and is interesting now in the handicap ranks. Track and trip winner Manshood has gone close here the last twice, but preference is for JOHN KIRKUP who rarely puts in poor performances and races from the same mark he was second off at Carlisle last time.

Hugo Palmer's Frankel colt COLLIDE, a half-brother to multiple winners and from a hugely successful family, travelled like the best horse in the race for the majority of his Pontefract debut and could easily build on that useful start with the extra furlong likely to suit. Vivernus is interesting on his first UK start for Adrian Nicholls, while the market could tell most about the chances of Billy Ruskin and Irish raider Jj's Journey, who makes his debut.

ROYAL SHAHEEN has won well over a mile the last twice and back over a track and trip he finished third at before that, he can play a leading role once again in search of a hat-trick. Thirsk winner Ayutthaya wasn't far away at Haydock last time on his first run since being gelded and is respected despite a 3lb rise. Delph Crescent's two-race winning run came to an end in hot company at Goodwood last time but he has to be given a chance here, while Doncaster winner Falmouth Light is interesting dropping back in distance.

Course regular ZIG ZAG ZYGGY has improved since equipped with a visor (worn again) and returning to the same trip over which he won impressively two starts ago makes perfect sense. He shades the verdict ahead of Beverley scorer Highly Focussed and Piazon, who posted a solid placed effort at Nottingham on his latest outing in April and has since joined Julia Brooke (from John Butler).

A chance is taken on COOL RUN GIRL in what looks a tricky puzzle for punters to solve. Iain Jardine's charge hasn't been beaten far on her last couple of starts, over 1m1f here two starts ago, and this step up in trip could bring about the required improvement. New Abbey Angel also boasts some solid course form and recent efforts suggest that he can figure prominently, while Pammi and Musbaq complete the shortlist.

Flying Focus has been knocking on the door at his track and he looks sure to be in the shake-up again, but preference is for last-start scorer HANDSOME BOB. The three-year-old appeared to win with plenty in hand over this trip at Thirsk last week and a 6lb penalty might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Liars Corner, equipped with first-time cheekpieces, also merits consideration on his first start away from Ireland.

Jim Goldie saddled the winner of this event 12 months ago and he appears to have another solid chance with LOTARA this time around. The Monsieur Bond mare has been knocking on the door in recent weeks and she is partnered by one of the more accomplished riders in this line-up, Robert Dodsworth. Top-rated Redarna backed up his Ayr success with a solid effort at Carlisle and he should give another good account, while Phebes Dream is a respected Irish raider.
