BRAVE BEAR beat Flying Heart by a length over 5f at Carlisle a fortnight ago, and they meet again today. The selection won a shade cosily on that occasion and is taken to confirm her superiority once again on 6lb worse terms. Howards Princess and Brut also filled the first two berths over 6f here last week, with Brut weighted to reverse the form with his old rival this time. Geordie Dancer ran out the game winner over 6f at Carlisle last week, and the drop back to 5f should pose no problems this afternoon.

CARTOGRAPHY was transferred to Godolphin after looking a more than useful 2yo, but has been unable to get his head in front since. He was second in this race last season on unsuitabe ground, but would be a confident choice if getting his required quicker surface today. Prince Charming and Ruby Rocket were both well held behind the useful Indian Maiden when last seen, so One Putra who finished behind Texas Gold at Epsom last month is taken to chase home the selection.

Course specialist WAHOO SAM is taken to land his fifth victory on the track. He won over a mile here in June, and supplemented that victory with a game front running effort over 1m2f at Ripon last time. His bold tactics could see off his rivals this afternoon. Newcorp Lad returned to form with a clever victory at Beverley last time, and another course specialist Dispol Foxtrot cannot be discounted on her favourite track.

This looks an ideal opportunity for the Mark Johnston-trained Regal Connection to open her account. Placed in her last three outings, a reproduction of her most recent effort behind Dee Day over 1m1f at Redcar should suffice. Crimson Flame disappointed last time, but two previous solid efforts behind Anna Pavlova would put him in with a chance today. Eoghan O'Neill's juveniles command plenty of respect, and his Marju colt Hard To Explain is no exception.

LOVE ANGEL has been busy recently, winning twice from three outings this month. He was not beaten far when going for a third straight success last time, and can add to his tally this afternoon. Maneki Neko ran out the ready winner of a claimer last time, and looks capable of holding his own in this company. Prelude was a little out of her depth at Haydock on Saturday, but will not find it as tough in this grade.

16:40 Hamilton (Class 3) (3YO plus)

TEMPSFORD was making a belated seasonal reappearance when successful at Carlisle last week. He made all to beat Ski Jump, who re-opposes on 6lb better terms this time, but the top-weight is taken to follow up this afternoon. Millville ran well behind Balkan Knight at Haydock last time, and is more than capable on his day. Hearthstead Wings has been highly tried in this his second season, and cannot be left out of calculations.

7

17:10 Hamilton (Class 5) (3YO & 4YO)

Totesport.com Maiden Stakes

An uninspiring maiden to finish with, and the John Gosden-trained BOROUJ should open his account with the minimum of fuss. Although a disappointing favourite last time, previous placed efforts put him head and shoulders above today's rivals. Ian Semple has a knack of improving new recruits, and his Art Elegant could be the one to chase home the selection. Onyergo has some snippets of form but was well beaten in handicap company last time.
