For all Mick Channon's Esteaming coped well enough on similar ground at York last time out, he's expected to go off a very warm order for this maiden opener and RHOMBUS might represent some value. William Haggas' Authorized gelding is going up to an extended 1m2f for the first time and, while ground conditions are an unknown quantity, he may just appreciate getting his toe in. Grendisar is another to note.

DUTCH MASTERPIECE couldn't have been more impressive when hacking up at Windsor last time out and a 6lb penalty shouldn't be enough to stop him going in again. Gary Moore's charge remains 4lb well in compared to his future mark so another bold performance is anticipated on ground which clearly suits. C&D winner Secret Look got the better of Effie B at Chester last time out and neither of that pair can be dismissed.

HAY DUDE created a favourable impression when making light work of an Ayr maiden on his racecourse debut last month and he's expected to prove up to the task now stepped up in class. He handled heavy ground with ease in Scotland and it would come as no surprise to see him get the better of Pure Excellence, who must be feared receiving weight from the boys, and the consistent Bravo Youmzain.

Cool Runnings fetched 40,000gns at the sales in November last year and Richard Kingscote presumably prefers him to stablemate Unknown Villain. That could be a tip in itself but GEORDIE MAN is a half-brother to dual winner Olympic Dream and the booking of Ryan Moore for his racecourse debut suggests that his shrewd connections are confident. The Andrew Balding-trained Curlin filly Butterfly McQueen rates best of the rest.

ARTHURS SECRET is clearly held in high regard having been pitched into a Listed race at Ascot in July and, having run with credit when behind only the useful Beedee in a novice event at Kempton last month, he makes most appeal on his nursery bow today. Allnecessaryforce left a moderate Carlisle debut behind when scoring over the distance at Newcastle on easy ground at the start of the month and he's also respected, along with the Musselburgh winner Polar Chief.

Chosen Character is having a tremendous season and clearly gets on very well with Natasha Eaton. Another brave display can be expected from Tom Dascombe's recent C&D scorer but marginal preference is for CROWN COUNSEL, who also has winning form at the track. He has been threatening a fourth career win recently and competes off the same mark as when narrowly denied close home over 1m2f at York at the weekend. Toto Skyllachy and Al Muheer also feature on the shortlist.

NEW YOUMZAIN proved his Sandown no-show to be all wrong when winning a Chester handicap over this trip last month and although hit with a subsequent 7lb rise in the ratings, he's a promising young stayer who should have more to offer. Fellow three-year-old Your Ever could put up most resistance but she was comfortably held in second at Beverley and has yet to taste success. The returning General Ting is not to be ruled out, especially if proving strong in the market.
