FLIC OU VOYOU, a regular at the business end without getting his head in front last season, has been in top form since reappearing following wind surgery at Chepstow in October. His handler Paul Nicholls won this two years ago and the six-year-old is backed to take his winning tally for the season to four here. The form of Do Your Job's nine-length Ayr victory over Cadzand got a timely boost when that rival won at Warwick earlier this week and Michael Scudamore's hat-trick seeker has to be taken seriously. Llandinabo Lad and Severance also caught the eye when scoring lately, with the latter also possessing a fine record on the Flat.

Often a gruelling contest, this can go the way of Warren Greatrex's dour stayer BOB MAHLER, who was third in this 12 months ago and is only 1lb higher than when a good third in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival. He was disappointing on his reappearance last month but will have appreciated that pipe-opener and has been given a wind operation since, which can bring him back to his best. Deise Aba was fifth in that Prestbury Park contest in March and before that was a dual winner, while Newtide was another to see his winning run end at Cheltenham but could bounce back and have a big say here. The form of Secret Reprieve's brief exposure to fences stands up well and he could prove leniently treated joining the handicap ranks off a mark of 130, with Snow Leopardess another looking unexposed over the larger obstacles and she has lost little in defeat against some useful operators so far this season.

When Master Tommytucker gets it right, as he did when a cosy 12-length scorer at Huntingdon earlier this month, he is a joy to watch bowling along from the front and must have a great chance in a race his handler has won six times in the last 10 years. However, the long home straight could allow the course-and-distance winner DASHEL DRASHER to hunt him down late on and make a winning reappearance. Jeremy Scott's seven-year-old was only three and a half lengths adrift of RSA winner Champ on his only other completed start over fences and could have plenty more to come following wind surgery. Good Boy Bobby did little wrong when making a winning return at Bangor and has to be respected, while Commanche Red was bitterly disappointing at Ascot last month but shouldn't be underestimated in first-time cheekpieces, with the pick of his 2019/20 form putting him in the mix here.

FLASH THE STEEL returned from a break in fine order at Chepstow last month and although he was unable to replicate last year's Grade 3 handicap hurdle victory at the Welsh venue, he looks back on good terms with himself and may be able to shake off a 3lb rise to run another big race. Arrivederci struck on his handicap bow at Wetherby and is open to more improvement following an 8lb rise. Kid Commando, a recent Listed handicap winner at Ascot, and Dr Richard Newland's handicap debutant On The Wild Side also have something to recommend them.

THE JAM MAN has been part of Ronan McNally's recent revival and followed up his narrow victory on the Flat at York by landing the Troytown when sent back over fences at Navan earlier this month. The seven-year-old is trying his luck off a mark of 148 now moving back over hurdles but in view of his 3m Leopardstown second in this discipline off a mark of 139 in February, it would come as no surprise if he won again under Maxine O'Sullivan, who takes 5lb off his back. Unbeaten in 2020, Main Fact has won his last eight races on the Flat and in the NH sphere so commands plenty of respect for David Pipe, while Relegate, a former Champion Bumper winner, runs off the same mark he was fifth off in last season's Pertemps Final. In what looks an ultra-competitive heat, progressive Fergal O'Brien inmate Imperial Alcazar cannot be ruled out either.

LOSTINTRANSLATION announced himself as a player in the staying chase division when lowering the colours of course-and-distance specialist Bristol De Mai in this 12 months ago and there could be a similar outcome here, with the Colin Tizzard string beginning to hit a bit of form in the last few weeks. The selection's third in the Gold Cup, at a time when the stable were under a bit of a cloud, could be the best piece of form on offer and he can lay down a marker for the season ahead. Clan Des Obeaux used this race as a stepping stone to King George glory in 2018, but it would be no surprise to see him raring to go this time around in a contest his handler has a rich history in. Keeper Hill, a winner on this card 12 months ago, and former Irish Gold Cup winner Bellshill complete the line-up, with the latter making his debut for Sandy Thomson.

Midnight Tune has undergone wind surgery since her latest outing at Uttoxeter in March and this seven-time scorer has to be respected, while last year's winner Perfect Candidate and recent Aintree second and fourth Pobbles Bay and Don Poli are other names to note. However, KINGS MONARCH certainly wasn't stopping when making a winning return over 3m on heavy ground at Ffos Las last month and a 5lb rise might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood.
