DORMOUSE is partnered with useful 5lb claimer Peter Carberry for this handicap hurdle and, while his hot streak came to an end at Lingfield most recently, he was by no means disgraced and looks versatile in regards to underfoot conditions. With that in mind, the seven-year-old is well worth another look off this mark of 120, but Able Deputy confirmed a good run at Cheltenham two starts ago when running a big race behind the promising Tanerko Emery at Sandown latest and he's considered closely, along with Notarfbad.

The form of KRUZHLININ's beginners' chase at Carlisle is working out well and he confirmed a pleasing start over the larger obstacles when not beaten far behind Parsnip Pete in a competitive Newbury handicap the last day. Now pitched into a novice event, Donald McCain's charge can go from strength-to-strength and successfully shoulder a winner's penalty, but keep a close eye on Taunton winner Majala and the 134-rated Realt Mor.

Three times a winner over hurdles, including success in a Listed event at Newbury most recently, it is tough to oppose SHE RANKS ME in this sort of form. Forced to give 5lb to the entire field on the back of that win, there could be more to come after just seven starts in this sphere and, having rallied gamely to lead near the line over the extended 2m latest, this step up in trip should suit. Harry Fry has enjoyed a great start to his first season as a trainer and his Dancingtilmidnight cannot be ruled out. A winner of novice events at Ludlow and Newbury, the point-to-point winner is very much a mare to keep an eye on, while Scholastica completes the shortlist.

While MWALESHI takes a step up in class for this assignment and has been handed 13lb for his most recent Wetherby success, Sue Smith's charge fairly bolted up under 7lb claimer Jonathan England on that occasion and is taken to complete a four-timer. Grade 1 winner Hollow Tree very much sets the standard and is interesting now pitched into the handicap ranks for the first time despite carrying a heft weight, while Top Wood adds further spice to an already intriguing race on the back of his Wincanton third behind the thriving Quaddick Lake.

MERRY KING is holding his form well for Jonjo O'Neill and ran a blinder to finish within a length of Rolling Aces in a hot Newbury handicap last time. That race has subsequently thrown up three winners and while a 6lb rise in the ratings for not winning looks steep, the son of Old Vic is taken to continue on an upward curve and is three from six for today's jockey Richard McLernon. Quincy Des Pictons is entitled to strip fitter for a pleasing course reappearance last month, but Kelso winner Douglas Julian is feared most.

Desert Cry will no doubt have his supporters now pitched into the handicap ranks for the first time over fences but the value may just lie elsewhere. C&D winner ARCTIC BEN has come back down to what looks a workable mark of 122 (won here four starts ago off 118) and it is interesting to see that Henry Daly has booked 3lb claimer Jake Greenall under bottom weight. Kudu Country is another that knows his way around here and he's likely to come one for his Ayr reappearance suggested last month.

JOSEPH MERCER travelled like the winner in a Perth maiden two starts ago but he fell at the penultimate flight under Richard Johnson to disappointed favourite backers. To his credit, however, he's come back bigger and better this term and will have pleased connections greatly when scoring at Uttoxeter on soft ground after 185 days off the track last month. Entitled to strip fitter for his reappearance, he's taken to exploit a mark of 124 on his handicap bow and might just be on offer at a generous price. Ely Brown is a more experienced campaigner and is up 6lb for scoring at Aintree on his reappearance, while Hexham winner Makhzoon rates best of the rest.
