DAVID JOHN supplemented his Sedgefield victory with a commendable effort in third at Warwick last month and should relish the extra yardage he tackles here. Being Global trailed the selection in ninth on that occasion, but remains unexposed, and might be worth a cursory market check. Periquest hinted that his winning turn might be due at Southwell and Guards Chapel ran well enough when third on his return to hurdles last month.

Bon Chic is clearly a leading contender after she made a solid start over fences at Ascot, but perhaps KALANE is worth a chance at the forecast prices. Charlie Longsdon's mare was reportedly none the worse for a fall over hurdles at Wincanton and was good enough to land the competitive Mares' Finale at Newbury in March. Koolala and Rhythm Star look to be fighting it out for minor honours.

TEMPLATE can get back to winning ways after finishing a respectable third at Taunton last month. Prior to that he had won on his seasonal debut at Market Rasen. There were only seven days between those races so he could have found the second run coming too soon. Great Fighter has the form to be on the premises today but the ground is a slight worry, while Cusheen Bridge and Kings Bayonet are also considered.

PTIT ZIG posted a career-best effort when giving Vautour backers a scare at Ascot last time. Paul Nicholls' charge was conceding 5lb to the Willie Mullins runner that day, so it was a splendid effort at the weights to finish second. His former stablemate Al Ferof is worth a market check on his first start for Dan Skelton, while last year's winner Wishfull Thinking returns for another bite at the cherry and also commands respect on the back of a solid reappearance effort at Aintree.

WATERLORD was on a four-timer when finishing fourth in Listed company at Cheltenham last time but he is expected to improve now sent over timber for the first time and should give a good account for John Ferguson. 100-rated Flat performer Clayton landed minor money on his hurdles bow at Ascot last time and has place claims if running to a similar level of form this afternoon, while it is possible the fitting of first-time hood could spark some improvement from Lac Leman.

Warren Greatrex has spoken very positively about LA BAGUE AU ROI and she could hardly have been any more impressive when winning at Aintree in October. That form looks rock solid with both the second and fourth winning since. The Willie Mullins pair Screaming Rose and Snag List are likely to pose the biggest threat, the former is unbeaten and the latter showed up well in a similar event at Cheltenham last month.

MR MAFIA is a consistent sort who was only beaten half a length at Ludlow at the beginning of last month. That form was boosted when the third won subsequently. He arrives here on the same mark and is likely to prove hard to beat once again. Upbeat Cobbler made a winning return to action at the same Ludlow meeting and a 5lb rise in the ratings might underestimate her. Call The Detective, Cardinal Rose and Halo Moon also have decent claims in a wide-open event.
