Verdict

MISTER RIGHT got off the mark over hurdles when winning cosily at Lingfield just nine days ago and, despite being raised 10lb in the handicap for that success, he could prove a cut above his rivals here. Cool Roxy finished sixth in a chase at Stratford on his latest outing and should give a good account now back over the smaller obstacles. Phoenix Eye may prove best of the remainder.

Verdict

Evan Williams' French import, OVERLUT, was a fairly useful performer over hurdles and, after finishing fifth on his chasing debut at Compiegne last time out, looks sure to mount a bold bid in this contest. Tavalu won in good style on his latest outing over fences at Fontwell in June and is likely to have his say if arriving match fit, while Sunley Shines is another worthy of consideration.

DONOVAN has been in cracking form for Richard Guest and looks the one to beat having landed his hat-trick at Perth just 10 days ago. Borora won in good style at Uttoxeter on his latest outing and is unlikely to go down without a fight, with Croix De Guerre also holding place claims.

Verdict

It could pay to take a chance here on Alan King's hurdling debutant, SAM LORD. He was a fairly useful performer on the flat and will be expected to make a big impression on his first outing over timber today. Tilly Shilling didn't run up to standard when pulled up at Bath on her latest outing and should give a good display in this, while David Pipe's Inchlaggan is another for the short-list.

Verdict

ZERO made an impressive hurdling debut when winning gamely at Exeter in May and, with further improvement on the cards, he is hard to oppose in this contest. Zamboozle finished third around here on his first outing over the sticks in August and it would be no surprise to see him involved in the shake-up today. Hansomelle is another that cannot be easily dismissed.
