Welcome To Unos escapes punishment for his victory in a conditional jockeys' hurdle over 2m3f at Catterick latest and should be thereabouts again. Although it may be worth taking a chance on the progressive ARCHDUKE FERDINAND, who relished the sterner test of stamina when a good second over 2m5f at Warwick latest and there should be more to come. Beauchamp Gigi showed ability in her two previous hurdle starts and could be a threat if fit after an 11 month lay-off.
Sunny South East arrives on the back of a victory over 3m1f at Folkestone but was well held when left in the lead at the last. Top class hurdler PERLE DE PUCE landed a Grade 2 novice event over timber in 2003 and, despite not being seen since April 2004, should be more than capable of landing an event like this on her chasing debut.
Irish Wolf was all out to score over C&D latest and a 6lb rise in the handicap means the attention is switched to HERNANDO'S BOY. The line didn't quite come quickly enough for Keith Reveley's charge over 2m3f at Doncaster last month and he can make the most of the drop in class/trip today. Credit was well behind the selection in sixth that day but is capable of much better and may have needed that run.
KING OF GOTHLAND opened his chase account at the first time of asking in a similar C&D event last month and wasn't too far off following up off his revised mark latest. He is clearly much better over fences and, with further progress likely, can get it right today. Ultimate Limit was a very disappointing favourite latest but was a very consistent runner over fences before that and is hard to rule out here.
Bumper winner Bonchester Bridge wasn't too far away in third on her hurdling debut over 2m5f last month and should know more about it today. Harringay has mixed in better company and Veritcal Bloom is moving in the right direction over timber, but VICIANA gets the nod. She was doing all her best work at the finish when fourth in her bid to land a double over an extended 2m1f and should relish this sterner test of stamina.
Green Gamble has remained in good order since scoring on his chasing debut over C&D in March, while Celtic Legend relished a return to the minimum trip over fences when going very close at Catterick latest. However, JOLLY BOY has improved to record a double recently over 2m and 2m4f and the ease with which he has done so suggests he can defy a 7lb rise to complete a hat-trick today.
GOLD BEACH shaped like a surefire future winner on his debut run at Ludlow last month and with improvement to come, he could well make all the running to score at the second time of asking. Kimi, Moritz and Nar Valley are three interesting newcomers, but the vote is given to NIGHT SAFE. He ran well for some way behind Tokala in a 2m event at Cheltenham back in October and can reward his supporters.
