FORTUNE AND GLORY can be forgiven his most recent start at Goodwood when attempting to make it three on the bounce. The first of those victories came over C&D in July where he won in decisive fashion and a return to the Sunbury venue, albeit off a 10lb higher mark, could see him bounce back to form. Isomer can enter the reckoning as he returns to the all-weather, while Profound is of interest on his handicap bow despite a 330-day absence.

BYZANTINE EMPIRE makes plenty of appeal on pedigree, being a half-brother to Group winners Richard Pankhurst and Crazy Horse, and could be yet another debut winner for John Gosden. Gold Desert represents a stable that has done well with their juveniles this campaign and is from the family of the stable's former star Canford Cliffs, while Stars In The Sky makes most appeal of those with experience based on her second at Doncaster last month.

Riot has shown a good level of form, finishing second at Sandown on all three career outings, but there is the suspicion that he could prove vulnerable once again to an improver, so the vote goes to HOT SUMMER. Richard Hannon's colt belied his odds to fill the runner-up spot at Newmarket on debut and he is expected to take a decent step forward on this occasion. Jean Baptiste could benefit from the drop to 7f based on his Sandown effort last month.

Those with previous form do not set a particularly high level but Breath Of Joy and Charming Spirit both merit consideration. That said, preference is for WHITE MOONLIGHT, who is out of a mare who was a Grade 1-placed in Canada and is a half-sister to the St Leger winner Nedawi. Sorrel is closely related to Agnes Stewart, who won the Group 2 May Hill as a two-year-old, and she completes the shortlist along with the 900,000-euro purchase Donnybrook.

LAND OF OZ won four in a row prior to finishing a fine third in the Melrose at York last month and the progressive youngster has to be given the utmost respect, despite competing off a career-high mark. Petrastar filled third place behind the selection over C&D on his latest start and he could pose the biggest threat this evening, ahead of Cristal Spirit.

Hat-trick seeker CHIL CHIL followed up her C&D victory from Lordsbridge Boy last month with an easy success at Windsor on Monday and, despite being burdened with a 12lb penalty, she could take plenty of stopping. Motagally is a likely improver in first-time blinkers and has place possibilities, along with the eased-in-grade Gold At Midnight. Soldier's Son also has a chance if building on his latest distance effort at Ffos Las.

ALMA LINDA was touched off over 1m3f at this track last time and wouldn't need to find a great deal of improvement in order to gain compensation. Sir Mark Prescott's charge is 2lb ahead of the handicapper this evening and receives a useful weight-for-age allowance from Sir Prize, who has been raised 6lb for scoring over track and trip 17 days ago. Newmarket second Water's Edge, who steps up from 1m2f, completes the shortlist.
