AZPEITIA showed plenty of promise when she finished fourth on her debut at Doncaster and the strength of that form suggests that she is the one to beat today. Monadee is the pick of the remainder with racecourse experience but the main threat could come from the newcomers. Dubai Acclaim is the third foal out of a mare whose first two offspring have both earned black type, while Breathless Times cost 150,000 euros at the breeze-up sales.

DANCE EMPEROR has to shoulder top weight but he was only beaten a length at Chelmsford last time out and a 3lb rise in the ratings may not be enough to stop him today. The likes of Beautiful Artist and Mr Gent should appreciate the step into nursery company, while Coal Stock and Bombshell Bay have solid each-way chances in an open event.

DORELLA met trouble in running on debut but that performance suggested that she should be capable of winning a race of this nature, especially as she is entitled to improve for that experience. Tribal Warrior and Tum Tum are others who could take a step forward this afternoon. Rusper won over this trip at Lingfield but a 7lb penalty leaves him vulnerable, while Holy Shambles and Mayer are worth noting in the market.

Highbrow is the clear pick of those with racecourse experience, having finished third over C&D, but he does face some well-bred newcomers today. RETURNING GLORY is a half-brother to the high-class performer True Story and he is also from the family of Oh So Sharp. Caradoc cost 270,000gns as a yearling and is also respected on debut.

PJ McDonald is an interesting jockey booking for PURE SHORES, who makes his stable bow for Ian Williams. The Dubawi filly, who was with Charlie Appleby, produced two of her best performances when on the all-weather for that handler, and a return to the synthetics here could see her play a forward part for her new trainer. Secret Return has the best known form in the race having placed twice in two starts at Wolverhampton, while Humbert is considered if returning to the form of his Thirsk debut stepping up in trip.

Eve Johnson Houghton's Vixen was a handy winner at Salisbury in the autumn and remains of interest off just 2lb higher. However she could be vulnerable to some seasoned all-weather experts with VIOLA PARK expected to go one place better than his second at Chelmsford and fight out the finish with Desert Fox and Happy Escape who makes his racecourse bow for Neil Mulholland.

Song Light was a winner on his last Flat appearance, and remains of serious interest if arriving in the same form. However, there must be question marks regarding his temperament having refused to race two out of the last three times over jumps and been sluggish away on the other occasion. Therefore it may pay to side with Kim Bailey's SUNBLAZER, who was a handy winner at Newmarket earlier in the winter, before not being disgraced when third here last time over a trip which would have been on the sharp side. Vettori Rules and Rydan are regulars in these type of contests, while the Indian Frankel, Desert God, may have a future as a stayer.

James Fanshawe's ENFOLDING arrives here in search of a hat-trick and could be hard to beat having shown plenty of quality in his two Wolverhampton victories. Recent winners General Hazard and Bristol Missile are sure to run well once again, while Cliff Face showed plenty of improvement when second off this mark last time, and he has to be respected for Sir Mark Prescott.
