Aidan O'Brien has saddled five of the last eight winners of this maiden and he fires three bullets at tonight's renewal, with ISTAN receiving the vote. The offspring of Excelebration stepped up on his pleasing debut performance when fourth behind subsequent Coventry fifth Van Der Decken at the Curragh (fifth since third in the Windsor Castle) and any further improvement will see him go very close. Stablemate's Edgar Allan Poe and Courage Under Fire are hugely respected, although chances must also be given to All Crazy Now, Mirdif and Glenamoy Lad.

CALIFORNIADREAMING is clearly a lot better than showing in a 7f maiden at Naas last time and might be better judged on a number of solid efforts, over this 1m trip, before that. She has been fitted with with cheekpieces for the first time and looks to have a big chance in a very winnable maiden. Madrugada improved from her first to second start and should take close order if progressing again, while Moment Of Truth makes most appeal of the newcomers.

PINWOOD comes into this as the least exposed runner in this field on his handicap debut and the son of Bushranger has proved himself on a softer surface on both of his starts to date. Verbosity failed to see out 1m2f on her most recent start so will benefit from the drop back to a mile, while Jefferson Davis looks interesting back down in trip and with first time blinkers applied.

CEOL NA NOG has improved plenty on her last two starts with two impressive successes in handicap company and the daughter of Teofilo shouldn't be inconvenienced by the step back down in distance. Glenmayne could bounce back after a below par effort last month at the Curragh, while Propriano has a first time visor and could well improve for encountering a softer surface.

Gordon Lord Byron tends to build up towards the back end of the season but ran well enough last time at the Curragh when inconvenienced by a slow pace over 6f. He is still more than capable at a decent level. Preference, though, goes to KELINNI who disappointed at Haydock last time but can bounce back to form with conditions to suit and having shown a liking for the track having won here last September. Don't Bother Me also has claims after his impressive C&D success in handicap company last month.

PIROLO may have found 1m4f on quick ground too sharp for him at Fairyhouse recently but on his previous start he was a clear-cut winner over this trip at Navan, where there was some cut in the ground. Following two fine runs in highly competitive handicaps, Athenry Boy merits consideration this evening. Any market support for Trespassed on his debut for Gordon Elliott would have to be noted, while similar sentiments apply to Best Kept Secret.

DON VINCENZO ran extremely well to finish a respectable fourth over 1m at Gowran recently and the step up in trip should suit this three-time winning hurdler. Pictogram probably found 7f too sharp for him last time, having run so well over 1m4f on his racecourse debut last year, and he is worth giving another chance to back up in trip tonight. Others to make the shortlist are Mr Fiftyone and Skilled.
