An Caisteal Nuadh hasn't been seen since falling when in contention on his hurdles debut at Down Royal in August 2016 but must hold obvious claims in this on the back of what his conqueror (Peregrine Run) went on to achieve over hurdles last season. However, he could be vulnerable first time out to a fitter rival, therefore Adrian Maguire's GAGAS HORSE is backed to make a winning start on his first hurdles appearance. The son of Kayf Tara was a Limerick bumper winner who was not disgraced when third in a hot Down Royal heat last time. Kiera Royale has plenty of experience and is another who needs to be considered despite falling last time, while Riverrainshine completes the shortlist.

MADURAI got off the mark for Willie Mullins when scoring in likeable fashion at Gowran Park and can follow up in this against some interesting rivals. Rebelion Boy is a useful yardstick who is sure to be involved in the finish, while Magnetic Force has been knocking on the door over obstacles and had a sharpener on the Flat recently. Knockmaole Boy has to be respected having landed his first win last time at Down Royal and is another to consider, along with Zig Zag, who was a promising juvenile last term.

Khalessi caught the eye when landing a Limerick maiden last time and she should give her running once again here and play a part. However, she may not be able to concede 10lb to Charles Byrnes' DENHAM SOUND, who was a winner at Wexford last time and could be well treated on his first handicap start. Immortal Bridge thrived over the longer trip at Downpatrick last time and is another to consider, while Tristram Shandy is also respected.

It's not often you will see Ruby Walsh in the green and gold of JP McManus, but he wears the famous silks here aboard his father Ted's SALSA SENSATION, who could be set to bounce back to form now back over hurdles and wearing a tongue-tie for the first time. The wheels came off over the larger obstacles, but the gelding was a winner on his last hurdles appearance and a confidence boosting return to the timber seems the obvious direction. Jack Slade is another who has been chasing and reverts to hurdles and he must be feared having won at Downpatrick last time, while Snugsborough Benny must also be considered having won at Tipperary when last seen.

TOP OF THE TOWN made a winning start to his fencing career when striking over 2m7f at Tipperary last time and promises to be suited by the return to this longer trip as he bids to make it 2-2 over the larger obstacles. Round Tower makes plenty of appeal on his 2m6f Thurles second in October and can battle it out with Gigginstown representative All Hell Let Loose for the silver medal.

VALGOR DU RONCERAY was still in contention when falling two out at Clonmel on his fencing bow last time and is entitled to improve with that initial chase experience under his belt. Newsworthy has been knocking on the door over hurdles and has an obvious chance if transferring that form over the larger obstacles. Others for the shortlist in an open-looking heat are Deputy's Pass and Cable.

ARANHILL CHIEF bounced back to form when runner-up over this trip at Ballinrobe when last sighted in May and is expected to remain competitive following a 2lb rise. Full Cry finished fifth behind the selection in the same race and could finished closer off revised terms, though the principal threat may be Noel Meade's Net D'ecosse, who was thwarted by a head over 2m4f at Down Royal latest and could benefit from this step up in trip and the fitting of first-time blinkers.

OSCO MOSCO has shaped encouragingly on both outings over shorter trips to date and is taken to build on her Downpatrick second over the extended 2m1f last time now granted this stiffer test. Willie Mullins' Ainsi Va La Vie is worth a market check ahead of her racecourse debut and is feared most. The pick of the remainder may be Sunrise Lady, who returned a comfortable winner between the flags last month and now debuts under Rules.
