Mossback was quietly impressive when making a winning debut in a course bumper and now has a first outing for Gordon Elliott, but will have to prove very useful on his debut over timber to deal with stable companion MISSY TATA. The filly has looked a classy mare in landing her two outings this term with ease and was a fine fourth in the Fred Winter Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Oiche Mhaith Boy and Jaime Sommers are consistent types but both need to improve considerably to contend with the selection.

As in the opener, Gordon Elliott is doubly represented and CARRIG CATHAL is taken to complete the four-timer for the yard. He easily holds Screaming Rose on recent running but it is significant that the Mullins yard choose to reoppose and the daughter of Darsi rates the main threat in the belief that she may not have been at her best on that occasion. Peregrine Run seeks a hat-trick and looks on the upgrade while it's interesting to see Electric Concorde pitched straight in here after landing an ordinary Listowel maiden hurdle.

HEAD TURNER built on a run of definite promise on the level at Roscommon on her penultimate start when landing a Ballinrobe handicap hurdle with smooth efficiency. Ruby Walsh was on board that day and the combination is taken to follow up off an 8lb higher mark with forecast conditions to suit. Noble Vision is only a four-year-old and thus open to notable improvement over timber and will find this much more straightforward than the highly-competitive hurdle he contested at Listowel. Brogine came home to some effect when third at Cork latest and looks nicely treated on that useful performance.

Many a chance in a open handicap but TRISTRAM SHANDY scored at Tipperary last week under a Ruby Walsh masterclass and can follow up under a 4lb penalty. Despite being into his 10th year, he rates an improved sort this season and is worthy of support with fitness, form and stamina assured. Glencairn View has produced consistent form in maiden hurdles and the point-to-point winner is interesting on his handicap debut along with Simiel, who finally came good last time and looks on a decent mark on his handicap bow. A Decent Excuse and Thanks For Tea are also of interest.

Much will depend upon the respective fitness levels of the five runners but SUB LIEUTENANT has to be the choice as he landed a Group 3 at Naas last spring and was far from disgraced when a decent third to Zabana at Group 1 level at the Punchestown Festival. Venitien De Mai is an obvious threat as there is surely more to come from him over fences but he may find this trip on the short side, although further softening of conditions would aid his chance considerably. Pairofbrowneyes is the token choice for the third spot.

A fine decision by the powers that be to name the race in honour of JT McNamara. On Fiddlers Green, one of four De Bromhead entries, makes appeal from the foot of the weights on the back of a stylish Galway victory, with stable companion Elegant Statesman also of considerable interest. Gordon Elliott also fires four shots at the target with Kerry National winner WRATH OF TITANS looking the standout of the quartet despite a 9lb hike in the ratings. He was drawing clear in the closing stages of that competitive chase and still inhabits an attractive handicap mark despite his latest punishment. Rightville Boy and Tiger Roll are also respected.

WOODFORD ISLAND has some very useful handicap hurdle form and made a pleasing chase debut when runner-up to Bay Of Freedom at Listowel last month. Normal improvement should see him go very close, especially should further rain fall and soften the terrain further. Moylisha Tim is an interesting recruit to the larger obstacles and merits respect along with Roman Gold, another newcomer to fences and a stable companion of the selection. Oscar Lantern has always looked a chaser in the making and should be noted, especially should the money come for the Byrnes inmate.
