An interesting maiden starts the card off with the well-bred MONARCH making the most appeal. Although the yard aren't particularly hard on their newcomers, the full brother to 2011 Irish 2000 Guineas winner Roderic O'Connor has several big race entries and shouldn't have many issues in shrugging off the opposition here. Of those with experience, Maneen defied his 50/1 odds when second at Navan back in October and sets the standard, while Vocal Experience ran okay in his second maiden behind Black Sea and could well improve further following a winter break.

CREME DE LA was a good second on her reappearance behind Jet Setting at Cork and with that rival going to to win the Group 3 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown, the daughter of English Channel should prove hard to beat with plenty of improvement likely to come. Californiadreaming is another who should improve for her debut effort this season, when fourth behind Claudio Monteverdi on testing ground at Leopardstown, while Glenmayne looks best of the rest on her second behind Embiyra.

Alamgiyr looks to set the standard on his second to Automated at Dundalk back in December but the drop back in distance after a break doesn't completely inspire confidence so preference is for the once-raced SHINGHARI who is from a nice Aga Khan family which includes Sinndar. Dermot Weld's charge has been given plenty of time and connections should begin to reap the rewards. Unyielding has the ability to go well here, back at a mile, and looks the main threat to the selection.

ORANGEY RED bolted up in a maiden here over 7f earlier this month and the handicapper has kept the daughter of Lawman on the same mark of 81. On her form when second to Theodorico at Leopardstown in October, she looks very well treated, especially against older horses. Dragon Khan was an easy winner on testing ground here last time, while Knockmaole Boy could improve running in handicap company for the first time and with the first time hood.

BONDI BEACH mixed it with the best three-year-old middle distance performers last season, which cumulated in his narrow defeat in the controversial St Leger at Doncaster. He ended the year with a resectable midfield finish in the Melbourne Cup. Silwana was extremely progressive last season and connections had to part with 320,000 euro to secure the five-year-old in November. Toe The Line defeated Radanpour by nine lengths at Gowran recently and it is hard to see why that form will be reversed today. Altesse is another who is race fit following her win in a Listed race at Leopardstown, while Torcedor also merits consideration.

Plenty of unexposed types make some appeal in this contest, although none more so than SILVERCUPS, who was not disgraced when behind some useful fillies in a maiden at Leopardstown last October. An opening mark of 69 looks to be fair and it would come as no surprise to see the daughter of Roderic O'Connor improve as a three-year-old. Birthplace and Mogaz have similar profiles to the selection and both represent powerful yards. Tasty Ginger and Zig Zag have more experience and are also capable of making the frame.

A very tricky contest to close the card and marginal preference goes to NEVER AGAIN, who won over hurdles here last month and was not disgraced when third at Gowran on the level recently. Whippers Dream bumped into a progressive horse last time but she beat the rest of the field well and remains on a workable mark. Tap Focus has been given a chance by the handicapper, while Pat Harkin and Red House Hill also appear on the shortlist.
