The opener looks a toss-up between the unexposed CLOSEST FRIEND and Lincoln County. The first named appeared to improve for a switch to Dan Skelton when chasing home a future winner at Stratford and should have plenty more to offer. The selection might have a slight fitness edge over Lincoln County, who impressively defeated a subsequent scorer by 10 lengths when last sighted in July. The challenge to that duo is headed by Cloudy Joker, who is a proven winner over fences but has to bounce back from a fall at Hexham in September.

It's tough to rule any of these contenders out, but perhaps the improving WINTOUR LEAP is the most solid option after she opened her account at Worcester. A 7lb hike in the handicap will make life tougher for her and perhaps Grimley Girl can give the selection most to think about on her return to action. C&D winner Russian Royale has been on the go for a while but her conditional jockey takes a handy 10lb off, while it's impossible to overlook Miss Sassypants and Announcement, who are both capable on their day.

OH LAND ABLOOM has posted two solid efforts in defeat over 2m4f here since landing a maiden over the same C&D in April and could now be ready for the step up to this longer distance. Mawaqeet has been active on the level over the summer and is entitled to build on his Southwell fourth on his return to this sphere in August. Nevertheless, the main danger may be last-time-out Perth second Bennachie, who steps up from 2m4f as he bids to defy a 3lb rise in the ratings.

Jimmy Shan rattled the crossbar over hurdles at Southwell last week and is of interest now racing off a 4lb lower mark back over fences. His previous chase form appears shaky, however, so preference is for the safer-looking option BOUGGIETOPIECES, who was successful over 2m4f off 7lb lower at Perth on his penultimate start and ran well off this mark when upped to 3m at the same venue last time. Ready Token wasn't beaten far at Ffos Las latest and is worth a market check now returning from a 109-day break.

READY TOKEN seemed to improve for the fitting of a tongue tie this summer, and makes most appeal on return from a short break with his yard going well.
