ZOENICIBEL looks to have come back down to a mark off which she can get competitive and the step up in trip is expected to play into her hands. The eight-year-old remains relatively lightly raced and there could be more to come. Future Profit has come down 2lb in the ratings since a reasonable effort here last month but he is tough to fancy on what he has shown to this date and, while the market may be able to shed further light, No Through Road completes the shortlist.

BAR DE LIGNE will be tough to beat in this novice event, despite the burden of a penalty, and although lining up on the back of a very disappointing run at Newcastle last month, he had previously won by seven lengths over this C&D. If running up to a rating of 129, he should be there with every chance when push comes to shove. Keep a close eye on Victor Leudorum, who bumped into the promising Oscar Nominee at Doncaster last time out, and the Wetherby winner Amtired.

KARINGREASON sets a good standard and, despite the burden of top weight, is expected to prove too good where it matters most. She is no stranger to winning at this course, appears versatile in regards to underfoot conditions and went very close to netting over the C&D last June. Babysitter must enter calculations for Jonjo O'Neill and AP McCoy, but Daldini is feared most having threatened to go close all season.

It could pay to side with TOP BENEFIT in what looks a tricky puzzle for punters. He arguably produced his best effort since sent chasing when third behind subsequent winner Esteem at Ludlow last time and should give another good account from the front end. Pickworth represents a Philip Kirby stable that has been in fine form recently and warrants respect on her chasing bow, while first-time blinkers may help Oh Right improve.

DUSKY BOB edges the vote in what looks a competitive handicap. This seven-year-old son of Bob Back has been in dazzling form all season, over hurdles and fences, and shaped as though stepping back up in trip would help when runner-up over 2m4f at Carlisle last time. Everaard looks an obvious danger chasing the four-timer, while Ludlow scorer Low Gales is another that cannot be left out of calculations.

Swaledale Lad confirmed the promise shown in bumpers when runner-up on his first spin over timber at Wetherby last time and another big run looks on the cards, but hurdling debutant THE MAD ROBERTSON looks the one to beat. Placed in both bumper starts, he clearly has a fair amount of ability and it can only be a plus that McCoy rides for the first time. Rowlestone Lad is certainly no forlorn hope if putting his best foot forward.

Qoubilai makes plenty of appeal on his first outing for Tim Vaughan having won a point-to-point contest at Rathcannon in September, but ZAZAMIX edges the vote. He confirmed his recent wellbeing with a workmanlike victory over 2m at Catterick recently and, although an 8lb hike in the handicap looks harsh, he could take some stopping if in the same mood. Border Reiver is currently 3lb lower than his last winning mark and merits consideration.
