Ballynacree left a favourable impression when winning a 2m Gowran hurdle unextended on his racecourse debut last month. His victory came as somewhat of a surprise given his 40/1 starting price, but his ability to handle cut in the ground counts in his favour and he's considered a major player in receipt of weight all-around from his elders. Preference, however, is for LORD WINDERMERE, who is eased in grade having contested the Grade 1 Deloitte Hurdle at Leopardstown latest and is a Listed winner over 2m. The Gigginstown-owned Ballysteen, third behind the selection at Punchestown, is another to consider.

Peter Casey couldn't contain his excitement when interviewed in the aftermath of Flemenstar's Irish Arkle romp in January and, while his gelding remains an outstanding prospect, over this longer trip, he may end up playing a supporting role to BOG WARRIOR. Tony Martin's representative was most impressive when routing a Drinmore field earlier in the season and although he fell in a Leopardstown Grade 1 thereafter, he showed no ill effects of that tumble when a clear cut winner at Naas latest. Over this trip and with cut in the ground, he should take all of the beating. Fellow Gigginstown runner Rathlin looks a useful sort and gives his owners a very strong hand. Frisco Depot pulled up at Thurles latest and looks up against it now taking on three highly promising novice chasers.

MAGGIE CONNOLLY has been knocking hard on the door in recent months and could improve now finally switched to handicaps. A mark of 128 looks workable for Willie Mullins' representative, although it is hard to be too confident about her chances given the wide-open nature of this contest. Lastoftheleaders has been raised 7lb for finishing second over 2m at Fairyhouse in January but this step up in trip has the potential to unlock further improvement and he looks a big danger. Last-time-out Punchestown scorer Cootamundra drops back from 3m and has place possibilities.

Spanish Auriga has hinted at ability in three chase outings this term but hasn't progressed as much as hoped and preference is for BAILY GREEN. The selection, too, hasn't quite gone on as expected since switched to the larger obstacles and has failed to build upon his promising third to Bog Warrior at Navan in November. However, this looks a more realistic assignment than the Grade 1 races he's contested the last twice and a drop in grade could see him open his account. Grey Soldier has place claims on the pick of his best efforts and is another to consider.

Rare Bob appeared to be staying on with purpose when fifth in the Grade 2 Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse last month but there is nothing to suggest he can reverse the form with ROI DU MEE. Gordon Elliot's charge finished a creditable third on that occasion behind the subsequent Aintree Grand National favourite, Prince De Beauchene, and is forced to give only 4lb to Dessie Hughes' gelding today. Roberto Goldback is another to take seriously.

PRESENT POTENTIAL looks the most likely of these maidens following a return to form when stepped up in trip (2m4f) at Punchestown latest. He is expected to thrive over 3m and won't mind the testing underfoot conditions, but A Fine Young Man continues to show improvement and there could be more to come from the lightly-raced seven-year-old. Big Generator completes the shortlist.

OPERATING will have learned a lot from his debut second at Gowran Park last month and is entitled to come on for the run. The form of that bumper has work out well and a similar performance should suffice. Elsewhere, Catamongdepidgeons also warrants respect on his debut under Rules but Knocklong is feared most following a pleasing start last month.
