MARCHAND D'ARGENT carries a 7lb penalty for scoring in a similar race at Bangor earlier this month (due to go up another 1lb) but appeared to win with plenty in hand and underfoot conditions remain in his favour. A repeat of that is taken to suffice, but Parc Des Princes returns from a winter break off what looks a workable mark of 102 and is expected to be thereabouts when push comes to shove. Front Rank rates the pick of the remainder.

SAVANT BLEU looked to need the line when notching over 2m4f at Hereford last month, so this drop back to 2m3f is expected to play into his hands and Kim Bailey's charge is taken to defy this 5lb higher mark if in a similar mood. Nicky Henderson's City Press has failed to land a blow in six career starts but is partnered with Barry Geraghty for the first time and may just fare better now eased in trip, but Sedgefield winner Bellapais Abbey is feared most.

Dianne Sayer's horses are going great guns at present and WORTH A KING'S could be worth siding with in this handicap hurdle following a respectable C&D performance off the same mark last month. He bumped into the well-handicapped Around A Pound that day but this looks a more realistic assignment and the distance winner can go one better. Artic Night and the returning Dipity Doo Dah are serious threats.

BLESS THE WINGS failed to land a blow in a Listed event at the Cheltenham Festival (when behind the rapidly improving Hunt Ball) but has clearly taken to the larger obstacles and a repeat of his successful effort at Prestbury Park in novice company two starts ago should see him get competitive at the business end. Triolo D'alene remains very much inexperienced but looked the real deal at Ascot on his second start at the beginning of the year, so he is also worth a place on the shortlist, along with Fiendish Flame.

DINEUR was bitterly disappointing when sent off favourite in a handicap hurdle at Ayr over hurdles last month but he makes his chasing debut off a 3lb lower mark today and could be worth another chance. Moscow Chancer has been raised 7lb for his Kempton success last month but that might not prevent another bold bid. Tannerman has not shown a great deal over hurdles but it would be no surprise to see him fare better now making his handicap/chasing debut.

It might be worth taking a chance on WHISKEY RIDGE. Sue Smith's representative has been rather disappointing so far but he still has time on his side and a reproduction of his second over this C&D back in February would make him a big player here. The application of blinkers could also help his cause. Normally is far from reliable but his best form would make him a contender here, while Sam D'Oc and Roi De Garde are also respected.

Wild West failed to justify favouritism at Ffos Las last time but he still performed with credit and he sets the standard for the others to aim at here. However, Nicky Henderson has an outstanding record in bumpers and his newcomer, PRYDE ROCK, is fancied to make a winning debut. A half-brother to the stable's useful mare Ryde Back, he looks a promising sort on breeding. Dorothy Joyce and Wintered Well are respected and worthy of a check in the betting market.

Nicky Henderson has an excellent record here and boasts a strike-rate of three winners from just five runners in bumpers at this venue over the last five seasons. His CLOSE TOUCH, a full brother to the useful Open Hearted and owned by the Queen, is likely to mount a bold bid to enhance that record here. Jonjo O'Neill's newcomer, Willie Gunn, is worth monitoring closely in the betting market, along with Classic Case who has shown ability between the flags.
