A drop in grade could see the veteran of the pack, FRONT RANK, regain the winning thread. He ran a lot better than his odds of 25-1 suggested possible at Perth last time and a repeat performance should see him go close in this company. Jim Tango warrants respect on the back of his comfortable victory at Bangor 25 days ago, while Muntami cannot be ruled out having recorded four of his five hurdle wins at this venue.

It's interesting that McCoy has been booked to ride 1m2f Flat winner Monkton Vale on his NH debut this evening, but BOOK'EM DANNO looks a safer option. Another having his first start over timber, he was mightily impressive when landing a bumper at this venue just short of two weeks ago and Peter Bowen is sure to have him well schooled. Eseej comfortably got the better of Peadar Miguel over C&D last time and should be able to confirm the placings.

TARATATA SIVOLA could take some stopping off bottom-weight here. David Pipe's gelding was purchased for 50,000 euros shortly after his second in a valuable prize at Auteuil in June and connections will be disappointed if he's not up to winning here. Sunsetten has won and been placed in two chase starts here so far and should give another good account while Pyracantha, another who goes well at this venue, can return to form as he drops in grade.

BALNAGORE produced a career best performance when striking over an extended 2m1f at Bangor last time and, with a 3lb rise in the handicap deemed to be fairly lenient, he should take some stopping if in the same mood. Tilly Ann had some decent form in Ireland and it will be interesting to see how she performs on her debut for the Lydia Pearce stable, while Stagecoach Amber is certainly no forlorn hope if putting his best foot forward.

Executive's Hall continues to run well and looks a solid each-way bet here, but SAUTE gets the vote to score for a Tim Vaughan stable that has won three of the last four runnings of this contest. He stepped up on his Hereford third in late April when runner-up at Newton Abbot recently and any further improvement would make him difficult to beat. Lombok is worthy of consideration after posting a much improved effort over 2m1f here last time.

CUNNING CLARETS could prove a cut above these rivals. A useful bumper performer at four years, he also has some solid hurdling efforts to his name and coming here fresh won't be a problem for Richard Fahey's gelding. Silver Lily, a winner on three of her last four appearances, looks the most likely danger, while Diamond MM won nicely at Worcester on her penultimate outing and cannot be ruled out.
