This looks as competitive as ever and cases can be made for plenty of the field. Heron Bay, Santa's Son and Tiger O'Toole all come here in good heart while Australia Day makes his first appearance over obstacles since last year. A previous winner over 2m at Worcester, he can be in contention if returning at his best. Preference, however, is for INVENTOR, who is looking to land the hat-trick after impressive victories over this trip at Bangor and Hexham.

TORRAN SOUND could take all the beating here. He saw off a number of these rivals over this C&D on his debut in this sphere recently and a repeat performance might suffice. Lady Pacha was narrowly held into second by the selection last time out and should not be ruled out on the revised terms. Bring Sweets and Urban Clubber make up the shortlist.

Donald McCain's SON OF FLICKA gets the nod here having put a disappointing Aintree effort behind him with a narrow success over 2m4f at Worcester. He had previously won at Bangor back in April and is taken to deny a rise in the ratings. Rajeh was only a short head behind the selection at Worcester and should not be dismissed lightly, while Ring Bo Ree was a comfortable winner over 2m7f at Uttoxeter and can take a hand as he drops back in trip this afternoon.

Jonjo O'Neill's charge TEMPSFORD showed a battling attitude to get up on his seasonal bow over this C&D last month. O'Neill and Tony McCoy teamed up last year to win this event with Nostringsattached and another success would come as no surprise. War Of The World needs to overcome a lengthy absence while Brooklyn Brownie makes plenty of appeal following some encouraging performances this year, including a success over 3m at Perth.

Alan Swinbank landed this contest in 2008 and he has a leading contender in the shape of SIR FRANK this afternoon. He followed up his bumper success with a victory on his hurdling debut over 2m2f at Cartmel and recently finished second at Hexham. Russian George got off the mark in his second start in this sphere at Uttoxeter last month and looks to have taken to this sphere, while Carrifran may reward each-way backers.

Feeling Peckish races from out of the handicap this afternoon but he's looked in some decent form and shouldn't be overlooked. Preference, however, is for Peter Bowen's gelding BALLYVESEY, who was unlucky to bump into a classy rival over C&D earlier this month. The yard have been in fine form recently and he could be worth sticking with here. Mutual Respect won with plenty in hand at Southwell recently and rates an obvious danger.

Lucinda Russell's veteran SEEYAAJ has looked in good heart since his reappearance back in May. He scored over 2m at Perth before being beaten into second over this trip at Bangor and is clearly in good heart. Elite Land and Daliarose are in good form and should also be on the premises, while Viper has finished in the places in his last three starts and can't be overlooked either.
