BALLYBRIGGAN looked most impressive when landing a Wetherby bumper back in March. He looks destined to go chasing eventually but probably has a few hurdle races in him first and should be capable of opening his account over hurdles on his first try over obstacles. Hudibras won a Lingfield bumper two starts ago and is another that could go well first time over timber. City Theatre, however, has already put in a couple of decent efforts over hurdles and could be the one for the forecast. Edge Of Town might not be too far away.

Tide Slider and Railway Park are consistent sorts dropping in class today. Both are still maidens, however, and there is no guarantee they can land that elusive first win. HARD AND FAST looked out of his depth in a 2m 5f Plumpton handicap hurdle last time out and was eventually pulled up. However, he landed a Huntingdon selling hurdle before that and although that was a modest affair his winning form might be good enough to land the spoils here.

SYNCHRONISED appears for the first time since falling at the last in a Listed hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. An improving sort, he won three of his previous four starts over timber and there seems every chance that his debut over the bigger obstacles today can turn into a winning one. Bluegun, pulled up in a Listed hurdle at Aintree last time out, also makes his chasing bow but is rated 5lb lower than the selection over hurdles and it's hard to see him coming out on top today at level weights. Victorias Groom has twice been placed over fences and his experience could count if the principals fail to deliver.

Nirvana Swing has plenty of experience over fences and just missed out over 2m 7f at Kelso last time but has another 3lb to carry today and has something to find to get his head in front. Livingonaknifedge is another consistent sort who won off this mark last summer but has run nine times since without following up and needs to raise his game. HOCKENHEIM steps up in class after landing a beginners' chase over 2m 5f in heavy going at Carlisle last March but went about his business in impressive style that day and can follow up today off a very handy mark.

Chaim won over hurdles at Huntingdon two starts ago but has an extra 20lb to carry here and has plenty to find to claim the top prize. Chesapeake never got into the race last time over 3m 1f at Aintree but has shown himself capable of better and is weighted to run a big race here. Preference, however, is for RIVER LOGIC, chasing a hat-trick over timber. He steps up in class but looks reasonably treated by the handicapper and is entitled to strip fitter for his recent success over 2m 3f here as he was running for the first time in eight months.

Take It There battled home to land the spoils by a neck over C&D this month but is up in class here and looks anchored by a 7lb penalty. The veteran Ravenscar has won off an 11lb higher mark in the past and should run his usual sound race but hasn't won for two years and looks flattered by recent form figures. He is passed over in favour of LEGENDS LASS , who was tapped for speed in a 2m 1f hurdle at Huntingdon last time but scored over 2m at Worcester before that on her chasing bow, beating Ravenscar by 13l. She's up in class and a massive 16lb here but looked to have plenty in hand and should be open to further improvement.

This should go the way of CALZAGHE, despite him having to carry a 7lb penalty for his C&D victory this month. That was his first run over hurdles for 20 months following a prolonged Flat campaign but he showed he'd lost none of his ability with a comfortable victory and should be capable of following up. Cumbrian Knight just missed out over 2m 1f at Hexham but carries another 6lb here and needs to improve to see off the selection, while Royaltea is reasonably weighted on his Hexham win but that was more than three years ago and her form following a long lay-off is less encouraging.
