Very little to get excited about here and stakes should probably be kept to a minimum. Red Square Express has hinted at ability, including before his fall at Catterick earlier this month, but a heavy-ground bumper flop in December makes him very hard to fancy. Chateau and Lord Mayor have claims on the pick of their Flat form, but hurdling debutant MURPHYS MILLION could be the one to be on. Three of those he met on his racecourse debut in a Towcester bumper have since won over hurdles and he won't need to be a superstar to get off the mark this afternoon.

This looks much stronger than the first division and it could pay to concentrate on Jonjo O'Neill's heavy-ground bumper winner ALTERNATOR. He faced a tough task on his hurdling bow at Haydock last month and is expected to have improved a great deal for the experience. Rashartic could go close if finding the necessary improvement, but Valiant Shadow is likely to emerge as the chief danger to the selection if building on his promising Newbury display.

Nebraska City, Eastern Dagger and Southern Bazaar all have a bit to prove off their revised handicap marks and could be worth taking on in this wide-open handicap. Nike Walker is likely to be on the scene when it matters and Real Chief could make the frame if putting his best foot forward. Of slight preference, however, is Richard Fahey's PAINTED SKY who enters the handicap sphere off a very attractive mark. He's been racing in better grade and could be capable of a big run at rewarding odds.

It's hard to avoid the obvious claims of BARBERS SHOP who lost nothing in defeat when narrowly failing to concede 8lb to the winner at Kempton last month. He still has room for improvement over the obstacles and looks sure to appreciate the return to his winning distance. The Painkiller scored over 3m at Uttoxeter in November and, with stamina assured, a bold bid can be expected, while former Irish pointer Unowatimeen shaped with plenty of promise on his first public appearance over timber.

Potentially a match between the top two on the card and ICE MELTED is taken to get the better of Character Building. Jonjo O'Neill's 6yo gelding found only the progressive Flintoff too good over 3m at Newbury last month and the likely soft ground should suit him ideally. The alternative's Royal & SunAlliance Chase entry demonstrates the high regard in which he is held by connections, but he may want further to be seen at his best. Flinders Bay may be the one to chase them home.

Several with claims but LOULOU NIVERNAIS' love of the mud has become very clear of late and it would be no surprise to see him make a successful hat trick bid if the ground remains testing. He's in the form of his life and can defy a 7lb rise in the weights with a career-best effort this afternoon. Spring Lover can't be ignored in his current form and Supreme Catch is also entitled to go close.

THEATRICAL MOMENT made an impressive start to his career with an 18-length victory under Tony Dobbin at Musselburgh last month and, already quoted in the betting for the Champion Bumper at the Festival, he will take all the beating this afternoon. Richard Johnson catches the eye aboard Heather Dalton's debutant Morenito and strong market support for Nicky Henderson's Scots Dragoon should not be ignored, but they will need to be pretty smart to thwart the selection.
