One or two useful Flat recruits make their hurdling debuts but ROYAL BONSAI sets a decent standard and can oblige after an unlucky debut over track and trip in June. The requisite gap arrived slightly too late as he failed to reel in Red Mercury by the minimum margin. He can maximise his experience now and go one better. Colebrooke showed enough on the Flat to be of interest, likewise Szabo's Destiny and Cuban Piece.
Royal Bonsai is the obvious starting point following a near miss on his hurdling debut over C&D in June, but Colebrooke looked a horse of more potential on the Flat, and has quite a bit going for him now hurdling. Cuban Piece is also a threat if taking to obstacles.

It was back in 2008 that TAARESH landed a northern maiden for Hamdan Al Maktoum but he confirmed the ability still remains when upsetting the odds on and well-regarded All The Winds at Worcester on his second hurdling experience recently. Likely to be suited by this sharp track, he is taken to defy his penalty and double up. Tom Wade improved on previous efforts here last time but a bigger danger looms in the form of fair Flat performer, Ajdaad.
Taaresh did enough at Worcester to suggest he could defy a penalty at this level and he's hard to oppose. Debutants Ajdaad and Yahrab are respected on old Flat form, while Tom Wade is a solid place option given his hurdling experience.

Tim Vaughan's string is in rude health and THE FERBANE MAN can defy topweight in an interesting heat. He stayed on at one pace to claim the minor placing behind the well treated Rowdy Rampage at Worcester and this represents a slightly easier assignment according to the formbook. Calypso Bay failed to reproduce his hurdling form on his Southwell chasing debut last month but remains of interest, although the more experienced Seize and Oniz Tiptoes appeal as more reliable options.
Oniz Tiptoes just lost out to Seize in a good battle over C&D last month, but he is far more consistent than that rival and looks the percentage call.

KNIGHT LEGEND slaughtered his field over course and distance last month and is hard to oppose on that impressive performance despite being subject to the inevitable punishment by the handicapper. However, such was the ease of his success that a 9lb ratings hike may prove an insufficient deterrent. He comfortably holds High Jack and Rockiteer on that running and course winner Another Trump looks a more viable threat, despite being disposed to throw in the odd disappointing run.
Knight Legend thrashed 3 of these over C&D last time and should go in again if his jumping doesn't revert to its sloppy ways. Another Trump could cause him most trouble, though isn't one to place a great deal of faith in.

SILVER LILY and Saute have plenty on at the weights and the handicapper will eventually bring their winning runs to an end but the pair still appear set to dominate proceedings. Saute could not have won more easily a couple of days ago but Silver Lily has developed a wonderful relationship with Carey Williamson and the combination can post a third successive course success. Houston Dynimo, in fair form on the level, should go well along with the consistent Border Tale.
Saute is currently well ahead of his mark, and is expected to complete a quick-fire hat-trick. Houston Dynimo is put up for the forecast on his return to action with the in-form mare Silver Lily next best.

Pollen Jock seeks the four-timer and a course hat-trick but looks harshly treated for his latest neck success with a 9lb rise in the ratings. He does go well for Gina Andrews though and his ability around here makes him hard to oppose but the handicapper may have taken charge now. The choice is WHAT'S OCCURRIN, nearly 15 lengths behind the selection last time but 10lb better off now. His yard is ticking along nicely. Benmadigan looks next best.
There's no doubt that Pollen Jock has more to do to bring up a 4-timer, but he's a credit to his trainer and can eke out another win. What's Occurrin should get closer on revised terms, while a strong pace would suit the smooth-travelling Another Storm.
