A competitive heat to kick things off and BUSINESSMONEY JUDI edges the vote. A winner on three of her four starts since joining David Pipe's team, she's a mare with a really likeable attitude and seems sure to be involved at the finish this afternoon. Pollen Jock has been running consistently well of late and should be in the thick of things again, while Royale's Charter and Spice Ba make up the shortlist.

Plenty of in-form sorts lock horns with David O'Meara doubly represented with Viva Colonia and KING IN WAITING. The latter is preferred, having scored here with a ton in hand in late July, for which he has been hiked 12lb. He may have been kept fresh for this and gets the vote over Tatispout for the in-form Charlie Longsdon team. The latter was most progressive last term and should be spot-on after his return to action, whilst Sansili and Drill Sergeant are also respected.

A competitive renewal as usual with the progressive OSTLAND taken to score for the fourth time this season. He looks sure to improve with just the four chase runs to his name and shows a tremendously resilient and determined approach to his racing. Peachey Moment looks a tempting alternative off the bottom rung, whilst the in-form Nigel Twiston-Davies team send forth Mad Moose in search of a four-timer. Qulinton isn't ruled out despite top weight, with the progressive Alderley Rover another to note.

15:25 Market Rasen (Class 4) (4YO plus)

Jane Clugston Handicap Chase

Ere Alfie remains open to improvement having been lightly raced in the past couple of years and will go close if ready for this seasonal reappearance. However, KING PENDA, another likely improver with just three chase efforts to his name, looks nicely treated on the back of a narrow Sedgefield success last month on his first run for Tim Walford and can go in again. Golden Dream and Persian Gates are both pleasingly consistent and consequently warrant shortlist inclusion.

16:00 Market Rasen (Class 2) (3YO only)

Captain Brown and Urbain De Sivola look interesting debutants and merit market checks but experience regularly proves the vital component in early-season juvenile hurdles and HI NOTE is taken to follow up a battling Fontwell victory earlier this month. She should be well suited by the drop in trip on this sharp track and can take advantage of the weight allowance received from dual scorer Arctic Reach, who nevertheless should still go very close and rates the prime danger.

6

16:35 Market Rasen (Class 4) (4YO plus)

totequickpick Novices' Hurdle

2m 1f

Probably the best novice hurdle seen so far this season with BULLET MAN taken to build on a very decisive success at Huntingdon, travelling and jumping well before quickening away to score with plenty in hand. World Heritage was similarly impressive on his Stratford debut and there should be little between them, with narrow preference for the former. Book'Em Danno looks a shade exposed but should still go well, while Bedouin Bay and Yahrab cannot be discounted in a cracking heat.

7

17:10 Market Rasen (Class 6) (4YO to 6YO)

F. Cross And Son Standard NH Flat Race (Conditional Jockeys & Amateur Riders)

MAGNIFIQUE ETOILE showed considerable promise in three bumper outings last term and the Kayf Tara gelding can get off the mark on this seasonal reappearance. The Charlie Longsdon yard couldn't be in finer fettle and he can make the most of the weight received from the only previous winner in the field, Shinko Moon. The latter revealed a pleasing attitude when making all at Wincanton in the spring and looks a lively threat. Future Dominion and Lulu's Gift also merit respect.
