Haddaaf is the most exposed of these but Charlie Mann has every reason to feel his gelding can reverse placings with his Fontwell conqueror, Maslak, on 8lb better terms. However, the latter won in convincing fashion and should progress further after just two outings over timber to date. Beverly Hill Billy was disappointing on his sole start last season and is expected to do better, but the choice is SOLENT, a facile winner on his hurdling debut and likely to improve with that experience under his belt.

A good turn out for a good prize with many seemingly well-weighted contenders, notably King's Head, who seeks to follow up his comfortable Plumpton victory six days ago. These are his ideal conditions and he should go very close. DISTILLER is just preferred though as he bears the hallmark of a typical Twiston-Davies improver and hopefully he will not be inconvenienced by this drop in trip. Sendani and Mutual Friend are talented but rarely relish a battle, whilst Bureaucrat is another worth considering.

Alan King has introduced many of his best juveniles at this track, such as Katchit and Franchoek, but the useful Flat performer, Black Jacari, faces a tough task against previous winners in what looks the best juvenile hurdle of the season to date. Stable companions Akarshan and Simarian are hard to separate, having both won with plenty in hand last time. The same applies to WOOLFALL TREASURE, who travelled smoothly throughout when obliging at Fontwell and the son of Daylami may follow up here.

Iron Man loves it here but is right out of form as he bids to repeat last year's success. Paul Nicholls fields Roby De Cimbre and the highly consistent gelding should have plenty of improvement to offer over fences and is a live candidate. Water Taxi, raised 9lb for his latest win here, and Brooklyn Brownie, up another 6lb, look sure to be involved but the tentative choice is WILLIAM BUTLER. The 8-y-o regained the winning thread with a cruising victory over hurdles and seems to have not stopped improving yet.

OUZBECK is selected to complete the four-timer over fences. Alan King's charge has yet to be extended in his three chases and is best followed until beaten. This is clearly his toughest test and recent winner St Mellion Freeway looks an obvious threat after jumping well to post a pleasing victory on his chasing debut at Stratford. My Turn Now was a decent hurdler and landed a novice chase at Worcester back in June. He would be a threat at his best, whilst Lorum Leader is an interesting Irish import.

The majority of these are hard to assess as they return to the track after substantial breaks and the market may guide as to fitness levels and race expectations. However, there are no such concerns about the in-form BREAKING STORM, who defied top-weight at Sedgefield earlier this week. He also obliged over C&D in mid-August and his assured fitness and form may suffice. Something Grand travels from Ireland and the consistent sort should go well, as should Yeoman Spirit and winning pointer, North Island.

Some useful types assemble here and there is plenty of decent bumper form on offer. However, FRASCATI PARK is hard to oppose after being caught late on in a competitive contest at the Galway Festival. He had previously strolled home over this C&D. Son Of Flicka looked a horse with a future when second at Aintree in May but hasn't been seen since and his yard is not firing in the winners at present. All Three Fables and Irish challenger, Ardglen may also make their presence felt.
