Verdict

FRENCH OPERA made an impressive hurdling debut when winning comfortably at Taunton in March and, as a recent outing on the flat should have got him ready for this event, he could take some stopping. Dan Buoy dotted up on his first outing over obstacles at Fontwell last month and should give a good account, while Paul Nicholls' useful Flat recruit, Elusive Dream, is another who warrants respect.

Verdict

Hat-trick-seeking ALWAYS WAINING was on a steep upward curve in the spring and might be capable of defying an 8lb hike in the weights on his reappearance. Hoo La Baloo was in the process of running a big race when brought down in the Galway Plate last time out and is likely to have his say in the outcome, while recent Newton Abbot winner Kings Brook is another that cannot be easily dismissed despite being raised 7lb.

Verdict

OSLOT was last seen landing a competitive handicap at Sandown in April and, while he looks an exciting chasing prospect, he could make light work of this opposition. French Saulaie ran a solid race when second in the Swinton Hurdle at Haydock on his latest outing in May and it would be no surprise to see him involved in the shake-up here, while John Quinn's Leslingtaylor is another worthy of consideration.

SCOTS GREY made an impressive return from a break when winning bravely at Uttoxeter last time out and, as he remains on a fairly handy mark over hurdles, he could be the one they all have to beat today. Keepitsecret was narrowly touched off at Stratford on his latest outing and should give another good display with the champion jockey in the saddle, while Philip Hobb's From Dawn To Dusk is another for the short-list.
