MY BRILLIANT CHOIX (11) made it seven minor placings from 12 starts when she led and just failed to hold on last start over a similar trip to this at Warracknabeal. That was just the second run since switching to Maher/Eustace and came after a seven-week let-up. Strips fitter and ready to break through. FIELDS OF GRACE (8) returned from an 11-week layoff with an eye-catching second last time out over 1400m at Pakenham, coming from last on the bend in the small field. Lightly-raced filly who will have no bother getting the mile. DAWN COUNTY (2) recorded a seventh minor prize in ten appearances when he led but found a couple better over 1400m at Ballarat last Sunday. Needs to settle a bit better to get a strong mile but if he can dictate will be tough to catch. HURLEY'S HERO (4) did a good job to grab second on debut last start over 1500m at Cranbourne. Plenty of improvement to come. LONGIFT (9) is very fit and shouldn't be far away.

BRUT STAR (1) made it three minor placings in a row last start when he stoked up late and was beaten under 2 lengths over 1469m at Kyneton. Given a little freshen-up since that run four weeks ago. Needs luck from a wide gate but in a very tricky maiden he has the right credentials. Stablemate INDY ROSE WARRIOR (9) is fitter for two runs back from a spell. Led but tired late and missed the placings most recently over this distance at Pakenham. Beaten just 1.7 lengths third up last prep over this trip at Moonee Valley which is great form for a race of this quality. LADY VUITTON (10) disappointed at Kilmore last time out. Perhaps a better form reference is her very close second over this course and distance when resuming two starts back. CARLITO BRIGANTE (2) battled on evenly for third on debut here at this trip last start. Has plenty of scope for improvement. GOLDEN RIDGE (7) resumes. Went close first-up last prep over a slightly shorter trip. Must be respected.

BAY THIRTEEN (9) was in the market on debut last start and ran up to expectations, travelling on the speed and battling on well for second over 1000m at Cranbourne. Will take a lot from that run and with luck from the wide alley is all set to open her account. ALISON ROAD (1) is a progressive four-year-old who followed a good second on debut at Cranbourne with a desperately close fourth over 1200m at Pakenham last time after leading into the lane. Another with strong claims if things go right from a sticky gate. HEYWOOD (12) has a well-backed favourite on debut in December at Yarra Valley but the money went out the window at the start when he reared and dislodged the rider. In an astute yard so expect him to be tuned up to make amends. CHARMING DI (10) worked home nicely when a distant third on debut last start. Will appreciate a longer trip today so watch for her late. TOKELAU DRIFT (3) is a likely improver second-up.

OXLEY JACK (2) was shuffled back through the field mid-race then warmed up late to be beaten just over a length over 1100m at Echuca last start. Has won two races and both came at this stage of the prep so he will be spot-on for this assignment. EXPRESS MASTER (1) led but couldn't go on against better opposition over 1200m at Ballarat last time. Back to his right trip and in this company will play a big role. STEEL CHOICE (3) led but felt the pinch in the final stages when midfield over 1100m at Wangaratta a fortnight ago. Best form comes at 1000m so he should offer more resistance today. LING LING (5) sprinted to the lead at the furlong only to be nailed late when resuming over this trip at Werribee recently. Freshened up and from a nice gate is a genuine contender. DOCTOR COTO (4) might surprise and turn some average recent results around coming off a six-week let-up.

MAKE AN EFFORT (3) was ridden closer to the speed last start and improved sharply to finish a close second over this distance at Bairnsdale. Kept fresh since that run five weeks ago and a repeat performance can see her take this out. ALMIGHTY RISING (1) has been poor in both runs this prep, the latest nine days ago over 1200m at Cranbourne when he led but folded up badly. Drops in grade and strips fitter. Can improve sharply. The speedy MAIORI (11) returns from a 16-week break. Best effort last prep was a game second over this trip at Warrnambool after leading. Can give a bold sight while fresh. I AM WAR (2) is a useful sprinter returning after a four-month break. Opened the last campaign with a tough all-the-way win over 1140m at Geelong. Sure to give a great sight out of the inside alley. RICH VELVET (9) has not raced for eight weeks. In the money at the last couple when coming off the same layoff so the stable has found the key. Worth considering.

WOLF REIN (8) took 13 runs to break the maiden but did so emphatically last start, leading from the outset and putting 4 lengths on her rivals over this course and distance. Not a great deal of depth to this race so she can get the job done again. NO NEW TRICKS (6) made late ground deep on the track to finish fourth when resuming last time out over 1100m at Kilmore. Not a prolific winner but from the inside gate with added fitness he can test this field. LUV A DUCK (1) appreciated the step up in trip when second-up recently, battling on well for third over today's journey at Pakenham synthetic. Will race on the speed and should give backers a great sight. GEM EDITION (11) was too bad to be true at Pakenham last start. The couple of runs before that were solid so give her another chance. SACRED KIWI (2) could surprise at odds after a 45-day let-up.

THE GREAT BRATSKI (5) has been about the money in her three runs this prep. Parked outside the leader and tried hard but found the winner too good last start over 1300m at Cranbourne. Down in class today and Aaron Lynch, who has a fine record on the six-year-old, is back aboard. Ready to win. PANAGSAMA (1) put a poor first-up effort behind him recently when a solid fourth over this trip on the Pakenham synthetic. Down in grade and ready to peak third-up so he makes plenty of appeal. OUR TIGERSUN (3) has pretty plain first up over today's distance at Pakenham last start. Won his only race over this course and distance. Look for a better effort today. CAT D'ORO (2) will be better for this hitout but is a top-four contender at his first run in ten weeks. RIVERDANCE LAD (4) is another one resuming with each-way claims in an open race.

LUNA TOO (3) had a five-week let-up following a maiden win two runs ago and again performed well at this sort of trip, charging home late to get up for second in this grade at Kilmore. Drops 2 kgs under today's scale. Looks very hard to hold out. IMA DOZER (5) continues to improve at each appearance this prep. Was trapped wide for the latter part of the race but kept finding only to be edged out at the end of 2439m here last time. Won his only race over today's distance. Rock-hard fit and ready to break through. ROYELLE (8) returns after a 24-week break. Opened last prep with a close third over the mile at Cranbourne. Useful stayer who can feature despite the layoff. TRAIL BLAZER (6) was poor at Sale last time after a strong second over 2000m at Kilmore the run before. Worth another chance. UNDERSTATED (17) is still a maiden but his recent second in a Kilmore maiden rated highly so he is probably up to this.

EIDOLON (1) is progressing nicely this prep. Stalked the leader then took over on the bend only to be overwhelmed late and finish fourth at the latest run over this distance at Warracknabeal. That run should top him off perfectly. WITHOUT EXCUSE (11) led on settling then kicked away and never looked in doubt last time out over 1500m at Mornington. Has been in fine form this campaign and with the same weight today is a strong contender. FLYING BASIL (2) has mixed picnic and TAB racing successfully of late with four wins from the past five outings. Was far too strong late when a comfortable winner last time over this course and distance in a Class 2. Big jump in the weights but can win again. MR POCKET (8) is a chance if he can find the form that saw him close hard and finish runner-up in a similar race here two runs back. NINYO (9) just missed when fresh from a 42-day layoff over 1400m at Echuca last start. Will be hard to hold out over this more suitable trip.
