In Babylon kept on well for second behind a well-fancied Godolphin representative on his debut over 7f at Wolverhampton and warrants the utmost respect now tried on turf, but the one to beat appears to be QENAA. Mark Johnston's inmate built on her debut effort when narrowly going down in a 6f event at Goodwood in July and the form of that race has worked out very well with the winner not beaten far in the Group 1 Cheveley Park at the weekend, the fourth subsequently scoring twice including at Listed level and the third and sixth both landing maidens in style. If getting this extra furlong on slightly easier ground, the Royal Applause filly should prove extremely hard to beat. Richard Fahey knows how to get his youngsters ready first time out so any market support for Lady Intrigue on debut could well be worth noting.

This looks a good opportunity for HEARTBREAK to complete the hat-trick. Richard Fahey's youngster has clearly got the hang of things now as he followed up his maiden win with a game one-length success from the reopposing Saxonette (Rothesay Chancer fourth) in a similar event at Ayr last week and the 5lb penalty incurred for that victory is negated by the booking of useful claimer Lee Topliss. The Iffraaj colt handled the give underfoot that day and can maintain his winning run at the main expense of Crimson Knot, who has remained in good order since landing a C&D maiden in August and filled the runner-up spot in a higher grade off this mark last time out.

Fol Hollow hinted at a return to form on soft ground at Haydock latest and is now rated 1lb lower than his last win in May, while Noodles Blue Boy continues to progress but may struggle to defy a career-high mark following his success at Leicester last time out. Whozthecat drops 2lb in the ratings despite finishing a good second at Newbury on his latest outing but he has questions to answer on rain-softened ground and it could pay to take a chance on LOOK BUSY. A Group 2 winner on heavy ground last year, this C&D winner has been well held in good company since winning at Beverley in May but returns to handicap company on a very attractive mark as a result and could make the most of the drop in class.

Chookie Hamilton held on gamely to score over this C&D last time but he might find this tougher under a 6lb penalty, while Tobernea is progressive and a 6lb penalty for his facile Warwick success earlier this week will not stop him from going well again if he is in the same mood. HONG KONG ISLAND also carries a 6lb penalty as a result of his romp in a seller over 1m4f here last month but he is due to race off 5lb higher still when his new mark kicks in so he could prove the one to beat on this occasion.

Titus Andronicus has not been at his best of late but he must be respected now dropping to claiming company for the first time. However, he meets SONNY RED on 7lb worse terms than he would in a handicap and that tilts the balance in favour of David Nicholls' representative. He struggled at Haydock last time but he had previously been narrowly denied in a competitive handicap at Ayr and a return to that form would make him very tough to beat today. Hypnosis could pose the main threat as he meets the selection on just 4lb worse terms than he would in a handicap and Barry McHugh takes off an extra 3lb.

Lord Aeryn won over 7f at Ayr last month and there could be more to come from him over this trip so a 6lb penalty might not prevent another bold bid. Amethyst Dawn posted a solid effort over a mile at Haydock last time and a reproduction of that effort would give her possibilities. Sir George comes into this in good heart and he should continue to give a good account but the verdict goes to SPINNING. David Barron's representative is not impossibly handicapped, has gone well fresh in the past and has some solid form with cut in the ground.

CARNIVORE has been struggling of late but he looks very attractively handicapped on his best form and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back this afternoon. Hits Only Jude is another who is well weighted on his best form and he is worthy of consideration, despite all four of his career wins to date have come on fibresand at Southwell. Emeralds Spirit carries a 6lb penalty for her win over 7f at Ayr last week but she should be thereabouts once more, while Casino Night is in fine form at present and he also makes the shortlist.
