Himalya has finished second in two big handicaps recently but has not won since his debut two years ago. Sir Gerry was well held in the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot but won a Listed race at Salisbury before that and can be given a chance here. It could pay to side, however, with last year's winner, KNOT IN WOOD, who lost his way last back end but showed with his fourth in the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot that he's returning to form.

Damika is chasing a hat-trick after 6f wins at Thirsk and here but is up 5lb and in class. Goodwood winner Kerrys Requiem scored with enough in hand to suggest she might defy her 6lb rise in the weights but preference is for POET'S PLACE, an unlucky loser last time over 6f at Doncaster. Successful on his first two starts on the fibresand at Southwell, he was going well on his turf debut only to be hampered twice close home. He can take this with a clear run.

With any stamina doubts removed following his 2m win at York this month, the hat-trick seeking DEAUVILLE FLYER looks the one to be on here. He carries a 5lb penalty for that success and is up in class but won with enough in hand to suggest he is capable of following up. Southern raiders have a good record in this race and Chester winner Mamlook, sent up from Devon by David Pipe, looks a live contender while Newmarket scorer Chiberta King and Overturn, also from a top jumping yard, can be given chances.

Of the two previous winners of this race in today's field, Game Lad, who scored at Carlisle two starts ago makes, most appeal off a handy mark. Catterick winner Hajoum wasn't far away in fourth in a valuable Royal Ascot handicap and should be thereabouts today but slight preference is for CAMEROONEY, despite his 6lb penalty. He's won five of his seven starts this year and won with enough in hand last time over 1m at Carlisle to suggest he can handle the penalty and the step up in class.

Dortmund has finished a close second in each of his two starts so far and has little to find to land a race like this while King Of Aquitaine, second at Ripon this month, is a progressive sort who should be thereabouts. It's worth siding, however, with ARABIAN STAR, who was only fourth over this trip at Salisbury last time but that was in much better company than his first two efforts. Back down in class today, he can open his account for Mick Channon, who landed this contest last year.

Kingsdale Orion won this last year off a 2lb higher mark and has shown signs recently of returning to form. Tepmokea scored over this trip at Ripon last time but only got home by a neck and may struggle with another 3lb to carry today. Preference is for PENDRAGON, who landed a hat-trick on the all-weather at Southwell before two near-misses on turf. He was a close second over 1m 3f at Carlisle this month following a short break and can go one better over this trip and with that run under his belt.

Be Invincible, a winner on his debut at Windsor in April, turned in his best effort since when second over this trip at Newbury but is up in class today. Antoniola, who scored at Doncaster last October, has claims on that effort but has yet to sparkle this term. It's worth sticking with LAW TO HIMSELF, who won a Ripon maiden last month a lot more cosily than the winning distance would suggest. He looks well weighted on his handicap debut and should be open to further improvement.
