A case can be made for several in this field, but preference is for the Roy Bowring-trained NINE ELMS. He struggled at Leicester on his most recent outing but the fact he was successful on his penultimate outing over this C&D indicates that he is more than capable of bouncing back today. He shades the vote at the main expense of the unexposed Opticality, while Platinum Prince completes the shortlist.

With several interesting juveniles lining up, preference is for the well-bred MORBOKA. She is a half-sister to the Japanese Grade 3 winner Woman's Heart and her dam is closely related to the top-class Lucky Nine. She certainly looks capable of giving a good account on her racecourse bow and gets the vote from the Gary Moore-trained Novus, who also boasts an appealing pedigree and remains unexposed. Vecchio completes the shortlist.

NIGHT SPARKLE seemed to benefit from a stiffer stamina test on her most recent outing, given that she kept on well to score by a length over this trip at Haydock. She is now rated 4lb higher but remains unexposed and that success gave the impression more would be to come from her. Auntie Margaret steps up in trip following her last success and is feared ahead of Cappoquin.

The market might be the best guide but SEALINE certainly looks the part on paper and, hailing from Roger Varian's yard, he's taken to make a winning start in this competitive contest. Prosecco and Mr Buster are also well-bred individuals and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if either of them were up to winning on their racecourse debuts, while Alex The Great also makes the shortlist.

OPERA GHOST fared much better than the market expected when second at Sandown last month and, going further up in trip, Jane Chapple-Hyam's colt could get off the mark on his first start in a nursery. Have Secret has been progressing well and he's another who should relish this stiffer stamina test, while Manifested showed more in first-time blinkers at Wolverhampton and, if they work again, then Richard Hannon's charge looks capable of getting involved.

The step back to a mile looks the right move for YARRALUMLA and a chance is taken on Clive Cox's filly to finally get off the mark today, with most of her rivals having plenty to prove. Although, that doesn't apply to Shaladar, who kept on well to win at Ayr last time and off the same mark, he's likely to be on the premises. Rival will find this tougher under a penalty for winning at Ffos Las last time but he's respected with the John Flint team in decent form.

Tarbaan is one to consider dropped back in trip but the progressive MOUNT KOSCIUSZKO makes most appeal in an open event. The Richard Hannon-trained gelding ran on well to snatch third at Newmarket last month and he holds leading claims off the same mark. Darvel finished fourth at Chepstow 36 days ago and the four-year-old could prove the selection's biggest threat this afternoon.

A E Housman could prove popular for the John and Thady Gosden team after shedding his maiden tag on the all-weather and he's open to more progress now upped in trip on this his handicap debut. That said, ASCENDING makes most appeal after being narrowly denied at Newbury last month and a 1lb rise shouldn't prevent the son of Awtaad from going well once more. Fellow three-year-olds Tartan Chief, Elena's Gift and Deferred all merit consideration in a competitive race.
