KING OF EDEN got off the mark at Newcastle over 5f last month and there could be more to come from him so he might be up to defying a 6lb rise in the ratings this afternoon. Top Bid carries a 6lb penalty as a result of his cosy Hamilton 6f success on Sunday but another bold bid is likely. Sands Crooner went close at Ripon last month and a reproduction of that effort would give him major claims.

CARLTON SCROOP got up in the shadow of the post to score at Doncaster over 1m4f last week and, with the step up to this trip likely to suit, he is fancied to defy a 3lb rise in the weights. Motarid showed promise over hurdles through the winter and it would be no surprise to see him give a good account back on the level today. Puy D'Arnac stays well and would really come into the equation should the rain arrive.

WISHBONE showed a decent level of form over this trip last summer and there could be some improvement to come from her this season so an initial handicap mark of 83 might not prove beyond her capabilities. London Gold also has solid juvenile form and he has to be on the shortlist on his reappearance off a mark of 78. Sunraider, Coin From Heaven and Deacon Blues also merit consideration in an intriguing handicap.

SERIOUS ATTITUDE won the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes as a juvenile and she showed solid form in pattern company, including a Group 3 success, last term. If she returns to action at the top of her game then she could take all the beating. Golden Destiny finished runner-up in a Listed event at Bath last month and should be on the premises once again whilst Rose Blossom is very highly regarded and completes the shortlist.

16:05 Nottingham (Class 6) (4YO plus)

ROYAL STRAIGHT was well fancied at Nottingham last month but had to settle for place money. He still looks well handicapped, however, and it could pay to give him another chance this afternoon. Major Promise is not the most consistent but a reproduction of his Wolverhampton second would put him on the premises. Colonel Sherman is rated 10lb lower on turf than on the all-weather and he merits the utmost respect.

6

16:40 Nottingham (Class 6) (4YO plus)

PADDY PARTRIDGE is an interesting contender on his reappearance. He showed signs of ability last year and could be a little bit ahead of the assessor off a mark of 57. Short Supply might be capable of better than what she showed in three runs over shorter trips last year and any confidence behind her on her handicap bow would be significant. Highland Love is feasibly treated if he can return to anything like his best.

Secretive has been a little disappointing since making a winning debut at the end of last year but he should not be written off just yet. REZWAAN was well beaten on his reappearance at Windsor last month but he is capable of much better than he showed on that occasion and could take all the beating if bouncing back to form. Jimmy The Poacher, Lord Raglan and Shayla are others to consider.

WHIPMA WHOPMA GATE won with plenty up her sleeve over a mile at Warwick on Monday and, if she can reproduce that effort here, she will take plenty of beating despite the burden of a 6lb penalty. Four Kicks showed improved form at Brighton last week and she could be in the shake-up again along with Alfredtheordinary who is better than he showed at Lingfield on his latest outing.
