DORA'S SISTER made a pleasing start to life in the handicap ranks when second over this trip at Pontefract earlier in the month and although nudged up 3lb in the weights for that effort, she should improve again and is worth another chance. At the other end of the weights, Relentless Harry is a fascinating contender under Dettori having shaped like the outing would do him the world of good when sixth over 7f on his seasonal bow at Kempton. Knight Vision and Dancheur are others open to plenty of improvement but they may not have fared brilliantly with the draw.

JANOUB NIBRAS ran a very nice race when third on his debut what looked a hot Ascot maiden over 5f earlier in the month and normal improvement should make him tough to beat this afternoon. The move up from the minimum distance is also very much in his favour based on pedigree. Windhoek and Winged Icarus both went for six-figure sums at the sales and merit close consideration on debut, while Gold Hunter and Well Acquainted have already shown enough to be of serious interest at this sort of level.

It would be no surprise to see the nicely-drawn and undeniably well-handicapped Methaaly go close under Richard Hughes on his return to turf but preference is for AVONVALLEY. She went really close on her last turf start here back in November and she arrives on the back of an encouraging third to Chjimes at Lingfield earlier this month. Boucher Garcon is clearly in good heart and he may appreciate the better ground compared to when second here 10 days ago. Punching is another to consider.

There clearly isn't much between Halstatt and Veloce on recent evidence but the latter is less exposed and might be able to confirm his narrow Wolverhampton superiority, despite the revised terms. One that appeals more, however, is DESCARO. He took a couple of runs to reach full fitness around this time last year and will enjoy a return to better ground after toiling on soft at Pontefract last time. Talbot Green and Spruzzo are two towards the foot of the weights that are entitled to be thereabouts.

This looks quite a competitive affair for the grade and it could produce a few subsequent winners. AL JABREIAH, who has already tasted success twice from four starts, has proven handicap form in the book and a 4lb rise for her ultimately comfortable Wolverhampton win looks more than fair. She also looks to be crying out for this further step up in trip. Eluding, Corsetry and Dulkashe are three of the more interesting handicap newcomers and strong support for the latter would be particularly noteworthy as she looked to be crying out for this sort of test in three maiden outings as a juvenile in the autumn.

JOURNALISTIC looked slightly unlucky not to pick up a maiden in his juvenile campaign, finishing last season with narrow defeats over this trip at Ffos Las and Salisbury. The son of Street Sense is clearly not bombproof but he sets the standard with a rating of 78 and could not be resuming at a better time with the yard in flying form. Kaafel is only 3lb the selection's inferior on official figures and has race-fitness on his side following a comeback run over 1m2f at Doncaster at the end of March. Suffice and Marine Girl look two of the more likely newcomers.

This could boil down to a match between the returning duo, Westwiththenight and YANABEEAA. The latter had plenty of subsequent winners in behind when runner-up on her debut at Kempton last September, shaping like the initial experience would bring her on both mentally and physically. A 400,000-dollar purchase, connections have clearly given the daughter of Street Cry plenty of time to come to herself and the step up to 1m might be the making of her. Newcomer Mankini could be the one to pose most problems to the principal pair.

A very tricky puzzle given the conditions of the race but RAFFINN is fancied to strike on his first start over 1m. He didn't show a great deal in three starts last term but there were plenty of positive signs in his running-on fourth at Wolverhampton last month and that first outing since October should have blown away the winter cobwebs. Bapak Pintar, City Dazzler and Purple Affair are particularly interesting rivals in opposition.
