A really tricky opener in which it could pay to take a chance on LIBERTIA. She has failed to make the frame in a couple of sprint maidens but showed a bit more when fourth over 6f at Bath last time and the much longer trip today could play into her hands. Calormen is also taking a marked step up in distance but he has shown promise over shorter, while Simmons could figure if settling and Brand Bob is not out of it either.

Parlour Games might be worth another chance to prove his latest Newcastle run all wrong but marginal preference is for BENIDORM. He put a moderate Kempton effort behind him when fourth over 7f at Catterick recently and this stiffer test of stamina looks sure to suit. Conjuror's Bluff is heading the right way and must be feared, while strong market support for Ittirad or Spifer would have to be taken seriously.

Saeed bin Suroor's remarkable track record makes Jamr impossible to ignore but ACADEMY sets a good standard on his debut second at Newmarket on day one of the Cambridgeshire meeting. Providing he's progressed since that run, the Derby-entered son of Montjeu can get off the mark today. Charles Camoin looks next best of those with experience and he could be capable of further improvement.

CAPTAIN ROYALE bounced back from a poor run on bottomless ground at Newcastle when scoring at Pontefract the following day earlier this month and although hit with a 6lb penalty for that latest win, he could take some pegging back if able to dominate from his favourably high draw. Milton Of Campsie returns from a layoff but holds major claims if returning where she left off in July, while Whiskey Junction and Sharpened Edge are others to consider.

COTTON KING stepped up significantly on his maiden form when winning a Wolverhampton handicap over 1m4f last month and he looks just the type to keep improving with experience. After getting up in the shadow of the post at the Dunstall Park venue, he is likely to relish this longer trip and a 3lb higher mark doesn't appear too harsh. Vertueux had valid excuses with his tack at Brighton and had been progressing nicely prior to that. He rates a danger, along with Dart, Warne's Way and Southwell scorer Short Supply.

SPINNING hasn't won on turf since June 2008 but David Barron's gelding has scored five times on the all-weather since then and found only Amethyst Dawn half-a-length too good over 7f at Newcastle last time. He has the beating of Lord Aeryn on a line through the former and the return to 1m is a major plus. Ken's Girl remains in fine heart and looks sure to run well again, despite another rise in the ratings. Harriet's Girl and South Cape are others of interest.

COLOUR SCHEME had the reopposing Point North a couple of places behind when finishing fourth at Windsor last time and that first outing since his debut second at Newbury in April is entitled to have brought him on. His stable is in fine form and it could be a case of third time lucky for him. The main dangers are Chiefdom Prince and Fama Mac, with the latter feared most following a much-improved second over 7f at Newcastle last time.

BOLLIN FREDDIE supplemented his Beverley win in June with a ready C&D success just a week later and although not seen since, he should take plenty of beating if resuming in a similar mood. Dean Iarracht is another seeking a hat-trick and showed a likable attitude at Redcar last time, while Dragon Slayer landed the corresponding race 12 months ago and, having slipped back to a similar handicap mark, must be respected accordingly.
